It is not consistent with TMP (The Motion Picture) as well as what he described to Michael Piller regarding the nature of humanity. So, no, I don't see it as part of "Gene's Vision" aside from making money.
Gene didn't approve of the military aesthetic in TWOK. The uniforms. The whistle used to chime visitors aboard the ship. The regimented feel of Starfleet.
Here is what he said from "Star Trek Creator" in his own words: "I think they did a pretty good job. A brilliant job? In making Star Trek work in a motion picture, possibly yes. In finding a way to stay true to Star Trek values, definitely not. It will be interesting to see what happens on Star Trek III."
So, I think it fair to say, that he would be incredibly displeased to the point of disgusted if he saw the lack of values in the films and shows today if he didn't see them in Wrath of Khan?
Where are you finding this? The entire series is based off of Naval Warfare and Organization.
Do your research and on how he interacted with Nicholas Meyer and Harve Bennett. He had strong disagreements with them on the aesthetic and direction of the film and to the point where Meyer and Bennett basically relegated Gene to the status of a glorified consultant.
Gene Roddenberry's fandom (and perhaps Star Trek) would never have survived #MeToo. And don't forget, Zephram Cochrane in FC was based on GR, Particularly the part about his motivation. "Dollar signs. Money."
But hey, if you can't see the morals and messages in modern Trek maybe you need to look again? It's pretty clear up on the screen. Spock's coming out allegory in ST'09, I've already been over ID.
He also said that he would welcome different points of view on Star Trek should the day ever come. So, he can be displeased and disappointed but doesn't make it a lack of values. Just different.

Here's the thing-Gene's vision sounds great until you dig in to it. The fact of the matter is Gene had his weaknesses and problems the same as the rest. He was always looking for money, and willing to shift his focus from Trek to a backdoor pilot when Trek appeared less than successful. IDIC came about as a way of selling a medallion through his company.
So, we have a wonderful lesson in contradiction. IDIC sounds great-until we run up against someone who enjoys a different Star Trek than us. Then we become like the Rolling Stones and can't get no satisfaction.

What they are doing to Star Trek man. It's not going to get them new followers as they had hoped. It's just lifting up the idiots that belong in the fandom and nothing more. Tell me, what episodes do you remember that inspired deep introspective thought? Discovery is the devil, in my humble opinion.

Then why are you here if you hate it? Go do something more productive instead of spending negative energy on something you hate and leave people alone who like it. There's plenty of other Trek subforums on this website that probably have things you like in them.
