Why is Janeway hated so much?

I've read SO much hate on Janeway and I really can't figure out why-Yes, I know she made a few bad decisions but I cannot fathom why anyone would call her a terrible starship captain. She doesn't command the same respect someone like Picard does, but she's still an excellent Captain in my opinion.

Could someone just give some of their reasons as to why Janeway is hated so much in the Trek community?

For me it is a perfect storm of poor writing and an actress I really disliked playing her. With an awful hairstyle and that condescending Hepburn voice...

To be fair Janeway has plenty of fans and the hate isn't anywhere close to the level that Archer gets, as for the people who dislike her its mostly because she was written horribly. Personally I thought that after she got through some really bad cases of over-acting in the first season that Mulgrew was fantastic in the part and I can't imagine anyone else playing Janeway, unfortunately the terrible writing let the charecter down. I mean she f@#king murdered someone!

My feelings echo what's already been said here. Kate Mulgrew is a wonderful actress and played Janeway superbly. But the character itself was terribly written and didn't capture my imagination the way that her peers did.

Well some people don't like Janeway, but actually she does have a lot of fans, as one can see on Facebook, and also Amazon, and other sites, so to each his/her own (PS I like her a lot and thought she was a fine captain).

I thought Janeway was inconsistently written. Despite that, I liked how Mulgrew portrayed her and she was a great character for the most part.
