Why do you think TNG has a less than... stellar record when it comes to comedy?

A couple of jokey episodes might have worked, as most of TOS's comedic episodes were well-received

I think "The Trouble with Tribbles" and maybe "A Piece of the Action" aside most of them were pretty polarizing also.

It wasn't funny for the same reason that Friends wasn't about space-anomalies.

It wasn't what they were going for.
