Why didn't they change uniforms?

That episode where they gave away three or four shuttles to those telepathic refugees was also a great example of their lack of need for resources.
What episode was this?:cardie::confused:

Counterpoint.

They gave away several shuttlecraft, and though the cause was just and good (and a violation of the Prime Directive AGAIN), you still had to wonder...didn't they NEED those shuttlecraft, and how are they going to make new ones?

I was under the impression they were going to meet with them after they left Devore Space. Wasn't Tuvok and other Voyager telepaths with them?

As far as laundry goes, I'm sure the Voyager crew could have just hung their clothes in the sonic shower to clean them, probably at the same time as taking a shower. Clean clothes, clean person. Next topic.

They really should have changed to the new uniforms after "Pathfinder". The uniforms they used were kind of blah really. I preferred the TNG uniforms to them but the FC-style were way way better.

That's what I thought, and again it would have made the crew feel good, to have new, uniforms the same as the alpha quadrent

But again, I would think someone would have to purposefully transmit the "pattern" to their data banks in order for it to be replicated. It probably wasn't a priority whenever they established communication. There were much better things to talk about besides new clothes. Otherwise, someone on Voyager would have to sit and redesign it from memory and the likelihood of them being the same would be slim.

It seemed like a waste of power to me. Remember that replicator usage was rationed on Voyager (except for shuttles and stuff like that).

Actually, not to be a hater, but I don't remember that. I remember them briefly mentioning this in the first season, and randomly again in later seasons, but aside from them using the mess hall I never saw rationing on Voyager.

I'll never forget that one episode where Torres was stressed or whatever, and Neelix, in an attempt to cheer her up, goes over and replicates a thick stack of bannana pancakes. Torres walks away without touching them, and my wife literally shouts at the screen "I guess they've got a lot of energy if they can replicate food and then throw it away uneaten."

That episode where they gave away three or four shuttles to those telepathic refugees was also a great example of their lack of need for resources.

And I never bought the excuse that it didn't cost them energy to run the holodecks. Keeping off the holodeck should have been order #1.

As for the uniforms, I honestly believe the show producers didn't want to shell out the clams for making new duds for each crewmember. There's your rationing.
This is incorrect, replicators are recycling machines. (we've seen Keiko put O'Brian's uneaten food back into the replicator)

Nothing on a Starship is ever thrown out. (They've explained that even in molecules from human waste can be broken down and used to create a pair of boots.)

Neelix cooking real food instead of always using the replicator is a form of rationing.

Nearly everything on the holodeck is replicated too, so no extra energy is used.

New energy for the replicator comes from space debris.(Dark Frontier)

Janeway makes a speech to Chakotay over replicating a watch. She tells him to put it back in the replicator because the energy from it can be used for a hot meal instead.(Year of Hell)

All this is stated and shown in nearly every modern Trek show that's been on since TNG.

I demand someone to employ mad photoshop skills!

I would have thought that after Voyager was given official orders by Admiral Hayes in "Friendship One" using the Pathfinder array, the new uniform replicator patterns would almost definitely have been sent to them and I'm sure new Starfleet protocols to wear the new uniforms would have been part of their new orders. I think like others have said the real world reason of saving costs on new uniforms stopped them from doing it.
