Why Did You Join TBBS?

I came here for the beer. I was promised free beer. If I don't get any beer, I'm going to have to look elsewhere.

Don't worry. The beer will be here Tuesday.

I remember reading an article about this exciting new Trek series called Enterprise, there was a link to TrekToday and from that a link here.

I lurked for a good bit until I came across a topic I had to reply to.

9 years later, I'm still here.

It's been fun.

Why did I join TBBS? To meet chicks, of course! :)

Actually, I've been a Trek geek since I was 13, when the original series debuted on NBC. I don't know why I didn't discover Trek BBS much earlier. I just sort of stumbled on it while surfing the internet one day.

Anyway, it's always fun and interesting to discuss Trek and other various and sundry topics with people who, generally speaking, have IQs in the three-digit range.

If I remember correctly it was because I was excited about Enterprise (the series), then I immediately posted some more or less random stuff to get to 50 posts and into TNZ.

I was looking for a better place to talk about Star Trek (Other than the startrek.com forums and the stuff from Yahoo) and I found this board, lurked and then decided to join the fray.

to talk about Star Trek novels.

i started venturing further afield and this is my main place to talk TV, movies and randomness.

When I finally got my own internet, and could play instead of just taking care of business, I started looking for Star Trek sites. I found this, and read for a couple of months, and then joined. But I didn't really post for about three years.

I stay because, you know, star trek lives

lurked for years, joined to discuss the new movie and some of the books.

I joined while stumbling across the Trek BBS while searching for Voyager spoilers on Metacrawler (lol) and discovered this wonderful place! That was like in March or something of 2001...I was here first before the Great Crash and then my current time on that my profile states.

I was searching for informations on the character Damar (surprize ;) ) after rewatching DS9 and stumpled over a post that way (I think it was the Damar and Infidility one), read it, saw that this board is still really active and joined a day later for asking my own 1000+ questions about said character.

TerokNor

I stumbled across TrekToday's episode guide, and saw the BBS from there, and since I was really into Star Trek right then, I joined up. I stayed for the community, especially because it's a lot more mature than any other boards I'd been on.

Well, my story is boring: It was the summer after high school and before university (i.e. I had nothing to do) and there was a local tv channel here that showed both TNG and DS9 every day to fill in its summer program. I liked them both a lot and just searched for a related forum...

However, it is the only place I have stuck with for so long. I like it because most people are reasonable and even though I am not that active anymore it still is a comfortable place.

After lurking for a short while I came across a thread asking people who they thought the best Trek reviewer was. Since I'd been led here by various reviewers, it seemed...logical...to join up and offer my opinion on such a weighty matter. :D

I joined to talk about Trek (it was here that I learned I was supposed to loathe Voyager and that I was stupid / didn't deserve to live / you name it for actually liking it) and Babylon 5, but I've stayed for the posters. Well, most of them, anyway.

My discovery is very simple. I ran across TrekToday while looking for news about Voyager. And since I hated the boards over at StarTrek.com... I ended up staying and staying and staying. I am sure folks are thrilled I am still around. I am like that booger you can't get off your finger, no matter how hard you flick it.

In college, the first time around, I used to lurk and and read TrekToday. I noticed trekbbs being mentioned so I stumbled into the Trekbbs. Lurked off and on for years and years.

I signed on for hell of it.

i had just read the destiny series and i was looking for pics of the aventine to use as a wallpaper. a link led me here, three minutes later i sighed up. been stuck ever since.

Used to follow one site for Trek news and saw that they carried stuff from TrekToday, so I went there. After a while, I started clicking on some of the most frequently commented threads and browsing through them. But this was back in the day of the dreaded flood checks, so I hit those every time I clicked on a thread. Eventually I got so fed up that I registered just so I could continue lurking in peace.

6 months later, I actually started posting.

My only experience "chatting" with strangers by '02 had been during the heat of battle in Soldier Of Fortune  I was a little wary about joining a message board - mostly because I was sure I'd be much older than the average member. But this was Star Trek, and as a child of Trek, I really felt I had something of value, at least, to offer. Then I got to feel at home, just as so many of you have ;)
