Why did they get a black guy to play Scotty?

The reason behind the blackface makeup was because it was considered very bad for black performers to take the roles away from white actors. So somehow they came up with blackface, which also doesn't really make much sense either when one thinks about it.

However, this concerns me.

The black man always gets killed first.
:( RIP Scotty.

Archeryguy...is that Scotty in your avatar? How'd you get such clean footage?

Well done! (no sarcasm)

Agreed. I don`t think it`s trolling if people can laugh about it... and I can, for one (about most of Sam`s jokes, for that matter). It`s all good fun. So get over yourself. ;)

And the avatar is priceless, btw.

Cheers.

People can laugh at a disturbingly wide array of things, so the test of "if people laugh, it's ok" doesn't fly. It does indicate that you might be on a similar mental level. Personally, I'm not that offended, so some of you can get over telling people to get over themselves. I'm not here to be the "grownup" that validates juvenile bullshit by getting in a twist over it.
Doesn't change that this is a garbage thread. Using the Blackface avatar, and being giddy with anticipation of offending someone about it, is pretty lame. If major suckage is your goal, then keep sucking, you're almost there :bolian:

Mate, you just didn`t get what I was trying to say, so never mind.

I`m sorry you take what people (you don`t know anything about) post in a message board so seriously, so if it makes you feel better if I take back what I said, then I`ll do it.

I take it you don`t like the sombreros then as well, right?

I wasn't supposed to say anything, but that is in fact the first official on-set picture of Scotty. As for how I got it, I know a person who knows a person who's married to someone who god-fathered a person who knows how to work a camera. That sort of stuff just kinda works its way back to me.

The real losers in this incident were the poor people who were deprived of my presence for the 24 hours that I was banned. That blood is on your hands. I'm just glad to see that pretty much everyone survived that particular horror... somehow.

Carry on...

Just.

So, what are your views on the textile industry, with particular reference to delta woven fabric, the likelihood and practicality thereof - any financial implications and the possibilities of silk screen printing of the new uniforms.

I was offended by the entire tone of the above.

Not for any real reason. I just was.

I hope this won't happen again, because if it does I'll be offended again.

You know how serious that can be.

I may post about it.

In words.

You'll pay...

*shakes angry fist*

I partially represented Samuel T. Cogley in TBBS' QSF court.
While the defendant was found not guilty and in the strict sense won his case,
he was also found in contempt. I tried my best tactical maneuver, but the Judge made me keep my pants on. Spiff is not easily swayed by Captain Planet briefs. I suspect this because he's a communist, but I'm not certain.

Spaceman Spiff has spoken. Samuel T. Cogley's avatar has been nuked.
Maybe he wants to wear that one instead?

I think we should revoke Sam's posting contract, and make him apologize.

Six months from now he may declare that he has found Jesus, sees the errors of his way and be signed into a new $30 million contract.

peace, hoes.

I think this thread has caused enough grief around here, and we've strayed far enough from the original topic anyway.

Policy debate, this is not the place for.[/yoda]
