Why did Chakotay Choose to be with seven instead of janeway?

Anything under 30 is young, one could argue. It's my understanding that normal "aging," on a cellular level, can start to begin for people at around age 27. But regardless, Chakotay was definitely an Old Fart by the time Janeway first feasted her eyes upon him. And this would not have been lost on Seven ... that's for certain. Even a Borg understands the difference between a young studd ... and a former stallion, put out to pasture.

Did Janeway appreciate the sight of her unintended kissing up on a woman so much younger than she? Might she have been bitter about that? It's just a good thing that it happened so near the end of Voyager's run, because Hell hath no Fury and all that. And there's no hiding it from her, on a ship that small. There's no being 'discrete.' Bolt the door and draw the curtains ... it's all in vain.
In the ST universe humans live longer so probably age slower and men keep their libidoes a bit longer. Defining a human male in the ST universe by 21st century real life standards won't work. Chuckles did not need viagra, for another 50 years or so. Star Trek DS9 relanch novels there is a 100 plus year old human Commander with a daughter in her 20's

Well, we know that McCoy lived close to one hundred and fifty years.

Exactly.
That's why, I ended to think that producers/writers of Star Trek are really bad for writing love stories. Indeed, except Paris/Torres and Riker/Troi, all others seem to have failed, whatever the series: TNG (Picard/Crusher), DS9 (Odo/Kira, Jadzia/Wolf), Voyager (Kes/Neelix, Chakotay/Seven's relationship, which has all the chances to be short-lived), Entreprise (Tucker/T'Pol and Archer is still single after 4 seasons).

Whatever the love stories proposed in ST: Discovery, I hope that it will be better written and that they will have a chance to survive beyond the end of the series like in the end of fairy tales : "and they lived happy 'till the end of their lives and had many children"! ;)
I wonder if the writers believe romance will put off their target audience or something. I find it sad that the TOS characters apart from Sulu in Generations ended still following Kirk around with no love life whatsoever or even a hint of one. Kinda pathetic. Real life people in semi-military organisations get married and have kids probably in large numbers

But that shows that the only reason it didn't work with Kes was because of Neelix, once he was out of the way though...

But even so that wasn't an instance of Tom seducing anyone. From what I gather from 'Before and After' Kes was basically his grief counselor after Torres died.

initially he thought he was in love with her, he flirted with her, it resulted in a food fight. After that he didn't really persue her because, in my head-canon he was falling in love with B'Elanna

that's what it looked like to me. After she died kes probably tried to comfort him and one thing led to another.

on a different note, I would never persue a relationship with someone I knew had 6 years left to live. I've lost my spouce and that sucks. I would never go into a relationship KNOWING it will be over in an incredibly painful way so soon.

His sense of fashion is 30 years out of date, like most 50 year olds.

Her sense of fashion should be 20 years out of date because of her vacation inside the collective, but she also spent half her childhood in a shuttle with her fashion retarded parents, so Seven is also 30 years out of date too.

They both dress like foggies.

A "young" person should be repulsed or confused by a prospective suitor even a little younger than them, who dresses similar to their own parents or grand parents. :)

Plus they're both fans of body piercing and face tattoos.

i think that's exactly what they were afraid off and if their target audience is anything like my pre-teen son then they are right, he hates all the "lovey-kissey" stuff. I am sure they could have more than made up for any loss in the young male crowd by attracting more women with a bit more realistic "lovey-kissey" stuff, though. Of course it's sci fi and not romance but sci fi plus a bit of romance is possible. At least in my universe.
