Who's up for Disney's Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser?

This is where the "make it happen" corporate attitude gets people. If you have unrealistic expectations at the top, and fire anyone that can't achieve them, you're only going to get yesmen and grifters in middle management who's only real skill is in deflecting blame, then failing upwards when it inevitably comes crashing down.

Absolutely. I am quite sure there were people in that boardroom secretly saying WTF when they heard plans for this. Yes, on paper it sounds great but practically it didn't. Some must have known that but didn't feel safe to say so out loud.

YouTuber Jenny Nicholson posted a 4-hour video on the history and her experience at the Galactic Star Cruiser attraction. It's gotten over 9 million views in less than 3 months. Despite the length, It's quite entertaining. However, it's probably better to watch in chunks. It was originally supposed to be a review video, but the sudden closure of the attraction caused her to expand the video's scope.

The video has caught so much attention that Nicholson was even interviewed by Rolling Stone about it.

REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING

IMHO, the whole project was fundamentally misconceived. The Star Wars universe is a deadly and violent one that's fun to watch for an hour or two (movies/TV), to "step into" for a few minutes (theme park rides), or to play around in from the comfort of your living room (video games), but it's not a pleasant place to spend two straight days in - at least, that's not a very appealing prospect for most people, not enough to make the "cruises" financially sustainable.

I don't know if it's really that bad of a place to live, what we see are always the extremes, and the people involved in the fighting the wars and things like that. Other than maybe for people living under The Empire and First Order, it seems like things weren't that bad for the average person.

Maybe, but the "galactic cruise" being offered wasn't an idyllic series of wine tastings in villas on the lakes of Naboo. It was staying in a small, cramped ship and getting spied on and attacked by fascists.

I imagine it might work as a High Republic era cruise. Murder mystery with Jedi as the events might work. Maybe a pirate raid like some of the park train trips to say the Grand Canyon have rain heists. Not the link like the start of Skeleton Crew but more like Bodacious Space Pirates style of theater piracy.

Star Wars is (primarily) a series of light-hearted, swashbuckling adventures that appeal to everyone's inner fantasist. The experience was not the reality of living under a fascist, tyrannical regime, it was go on a silly role play space adventure for two days.

The "dark, violent" nature of the SW universe doesn't enter into the equation.

One of the reason I’m not the biggest fan of Andor. It’s nicely made but a bit too dark for the Star Wars franchise
