The Sisko. Because. :D

Seriously though, that man deserves respect for what he did. Boldly staying there, trying his best to help a people ravaged by occupation and helping them become a member of the Federation, while at the same time trying to raise a son, command a huge station, being on the frontline of the Dominion War and trying to come to terms with his role as a messiah.

He also seems the one captain most interested in the wellbeing of his crew for their sake, instead of the ships sake or the mission's sake. Even going so far as to get to know them, he invites people to dinner in his quarters.

Going just by the captain, I chose Picard. But Sisko or Kirk wouldn't be too bad either I suppose.

It's gotta be kirk for me helping to explore strange new worlds but if I was a red shirt it would be a no no but my 2nd choice would be sisko living on DS9 would never be boring IMO

I like dancing shrimps! It's a kindda salad that the Thais use live, very small, freshwater shrimps and dress them up! Mmmm! It kindda dance in your mouth as you chew and swallow it. I don't mine trying Gag!

Are you just pulling our legs or is there really such a thing? :cardie:

I picked Janeway. But that was before I realized you had to accept the scenario along with the captain. I pick Janeway after she gets back home.

Based solely on the character of the captains, I would select Captain Picard. If you follow him, you know you'll be as safe as he can possibly keep his crew, and obey all the rules he is obligated to follow... Picard would let an opportunity be lost if he thought he could break a rule by meeting some new species or something.

I don't know, from what I remember of Picard, he'd LET YOU DIE before he'd break a rule.

EXACTLY the problem with Picard. Lives meant nothing to him; rules meant everything. It didn't matter who he had to throw under the bus.

Other: Edward Jellico. No BS kind of guy, gets it done, you know exactly where you stand.

He may not have had the personal skills that Sisko did, but what I saw of him did make me think that I would actually survive going into battle on his ship. Far more than I can say for any of the other non-Siskos.

Yes, there is such a thing! :)

If you are really interested, you could see it on "Bizzairre Food With Andrew Zimmern"....

Picard may be the superior commander but I'd follow James T. Kirk through the gates of Hell.
He'd be the only captain listed here who would tear the place up and come out in one piece. Picard, Sisko, Janeway, or Archer just wouldn't and couldn't.

...so do I, but I wouldn't want to serve under him. As a lower-level officer or even an enlisted man he's probably great to work with, but I wouldn't want to put my life in his hands.

I like Archer too, would try for Sisko, but realisticly, I would serve under whoever Starfleet told me to

After a bit of thought I decided that it would have to be Picard.

He tends to care about his crew and there's plenty of action.
Kirk with is gung-ho ways is likely to get you kiled.
Sisko would have been a second choice, but being stuck most of the time on a space station wasn't appealing.
Janeway, being lost in space not much fun.
Archer, well you'd never know what time you were in.

The poll results will be interesting as a reflection of the opinions on this particular board.

Can't help but think, though, how different the results would be if it was taken only by people who are only casual fans or have only a passing familiarity with Trek at all. Some of them may have never heard of any captain after Kirk, much less after Picard, IMO...

Either Janeway or Sisko.

-Picard would sacrifice lives just to uphold the Prime Directive.
-I wouldn't want to serve under Kirk. He just seems to reckless.
-Never really watched Enterprise, so I can't say much about Archer.

Since I don't really have all that many friends on Earth(Sad, I know), I wouldn't really mind being stranded in space. Plus, you can go to Voyager's holodecks for free. IIRC, you had to pay to use the holosuites. The downside is that I'd have to live through "The Killing Game" and all the Borg episodes. And also... *Gulp* Neelix's cooking...

Living on DS9 would be cool, and Sisko seems like a good captain. I would probably crap my pants during the Dominion war though... And as mentioned before, no free holodecks/holosuites.

But I picked Janeway, because living on Voyager would probably be more exciting. And because free holodecks.

I would have to say Picard.

Most of the other captains listed here are too much of a loose cannon. I wouldn't trust them not to get me killed or abandoned. Picard would never do that.
