Who Would You Get a Crush On?

That is an interesting - and creepy - suggestion that Soong was going to transfer his mind to Data or Lore. It does kind of give a predatory slant to his paternal role.
Eek. I don't get that impression from him at all. Frankly, from Soong's answer to Data's question (In Brothers) about why he'd created him, Soong was almost entirely motivated by preserving himself in his achievements, like by fathering Data
I've always liked better when romance partners were side characters or guest stars and not main cast. I feel when the main stars get together it's like their romantic relationship overwhelms their professional one and like every story has to be about it now. I feel it's more interesting when the main characters can talk to each other about their love interests but like as side stories to the science fiction.
Man, did I ever like Miles & Keiko's relationship better when they weren't main characters. Putting main characters in relationships is usually a loud cry that they got nothing left to write for one or both of them, & whatever one gets no more distinctive plotlines was the one they bailed on. It's lazy writing, plain & simple. I'm actually incredibly pleased TNG steered clear of it on the whole

As I recall I was crushing on Picard. Since this is hypothetical, if I were to pick a woman it would be Robin.

Robin Lefler, I guess? Maybe not so much now that I'm twice the age she was then.

Kamala although I'd be terrified of what she'd become around me.

Nobody on the senior staff. God no.

If you go with The Cold Equations novel series, Soong had an improved android body prepared in the event of his death and did transfer his consciousness into it, though it was a blank slate prior to that. Counter to the motives you assign him here, he ultimately:

Transfers Data's consciousness from B-4 (which was killing them both) into his body, destroying himself so that both his sons could live. He'd hoped to have an improved body for Data as well - intended as an upgrade at first and then a means of restoring Data from B-4 - but a Borg attack destroyed it, so he sacrificed himself.

I crushed hard on Deanna as a teenager, particularly after they put her in a uniform like everyone else. I recall having a phone conversation with my cousin in 1994 about the very 'confusing' feelings 11 year old me felt seeing her on the big screen in Generations ...

These days I'd prefer Tasha Yar. ;)

Miles O’Brien was always my TNG crush, but I agree, DS9 really changed the character dynamic. Plus he started looking noticeably older on DS9.

Honorable mention goes to Q.

Ro. But since Ezri has been brought up, that character never did anything for me but when Nicole went to "The Dead Zone" it was like "Whoa". I don't know if it was just the few additional years making a difference or if the spots were a turn-off.

Dr. Leah Brahms. I've always wanted to hop into the TV screen and tell Geordi that I TOTALLY understand why he's crushing on her.

And Minuet, Riker's hologram crush. I get it, Riker.

Man, I just got a thing for holograms, I guess. :p:brickwall:

Dr. Leah Brahms. Smart. Gibson Girl hair. Icy exterior, warms up nicely. But unobtainable due to that pesky husband. Just my luck.

I'm pretty sure of this. As you say, there's basically no need for a specific sexual orientation in Data or Lore, but Noonien may have programmed them as heterosexual just because he was. I sometimes wonder if his ultimate wish wasn't to transfer his conscience in Data or Lore...Maybe it was, but Juliana convinced him not to do it ? So when she died, he used his knowledge to transfer her in a gynoid replica instead of using the technology for himself ? We'll never know for sure.

Oh okay ! So that's more personal preference then :)

Song wanted grandkids. And he’s a bit traditional. Hence the dinosaur toys.

I used to have a crush on Deanna Troi in my youth but not anymore because one of my cousins looks a little like her now. So no thanks. Kinda icky for me now.

I know not who Conundrum's sickbay girl is, nor her point on board, but I'd love finding that pool
