Who the Hell is Kimbo Slice

So tonight I watched some of this Elite XC thing on CBS. I didn't watch all of it, nor was I really planning to watch much of it. I wanted to see Gina Carano (Which I missed), but ended up seeing Kimbo Slice. Under the assumption we have MMA fans here, who the hell is he. He's built up to be this star fighter, yet he loses to an unknown in 14 seconds and I remember him being the center of controversy from the last Network fight. I'm not really a fan of this thing and couldn't tell you the difference between Mauy tie and Jujitzu if I tried, but that was a pretty disappointing "main" event.

Kimbo Slice isn't even that good of a fighter at all; he's just a big, scary looking alpha male type of man.

Who lost his fight in 14 seconds, to a guy that had been recruited to fight two HOURS before the fight had started, because the original fighter was denied the fight because of a cut over his eye.

Kimbo Slice is the YouTube sensation for taking on other large scary looking guys with no formal training in his backyard. Some executive got the idea of building a fledgling MMA promotion around him, by feeding him a steady diet of nobodies and "name" fighters on the wrong side of their career. The hope, I assume, was that before he was exposed, that some of their other fighters would catch on and allow the promotion to continue. As far as I can tell, the ony fighter to catch on is Gina Carano, and not nesscarily for her fighting ability, but more for the fact that she's somewhat attractive. The only thing the promotion had going for it was the hype behind Kimbo anda deal with CBS. Now that both are gone, don't expect to hear from either again. If the UFC doesn't pick Gina up, expect to see her in the WWE by the end of the year.

^Not unless she's prepared to learn to wrestle a WWE style professional wrestling match. All the MMA skills in the world won't prepare you for that - ask Daniel Puder.
