Probably not; actors like this kind of stuff because it lets them do fun stuff they don't normally get to do.

Speaking of which, while not possession, I'd count most of the DS9 folks in "Our Man Bashir" as a great example of our actors getting to act against their standard.

I argue that "McCoy operating Spock's Brain" does not belong on the list. He was not possessed, only imparted with extra knowledge; McCoy was still McCoy...you could says "he's the real McCoy."

Rosalind Chao as possessed Keiko, she was awesome.

But I also liked Marina Sirtis in Power Play, mostly because she didn't overdo it, Meaney and Spiner both played more stereotypically bad guys.

Jeri Ryan and Jennifer Lien as the doctor and the warlord were really good too.

And I still like Pulaski better than Crusher.

I don't get the Pulaski hate, tbh. I'm not sure I prefer her, but Crusher was never written particularly well, unfortunately.

I agree that Rosalind Chao did a great job in this episode. I had this on in bed one night with my ex. ..I'll pause while you grab popcorn...after he said...I like DS9! That was a good one!

Troi was actually possessed (in a sense) three times that I know of: the convicts in "Power Play", the Paxans in "Clues", and Alcar in "Man of the People".

Sadly, Pulaski wasn't either. Diana Muldaur was one of the few involved in TNG that wasn't trying to make her "Leonard H. McCoy(with boobs)". Picard didn't need an irascible curmudgeon as his CMO, as his dynamic as a commander was different than Kirk's.
