Who do you think will die from the main cast for S3 of Picard??

We are Star Trek nerds. Trekkers or Trekkies. We nitpick things to death. That is our culture. That is our way.

No. That’s your choice. You can also choose to enjoy (or not), discuss, maybe point out some flaws and move on with your life.

Nah. It's too much fun to nitpick star trek things to death. I've been doing it for years. I really do enjoy picking out all the flaws. I've read the nitpickers guide to star trek several times. Genius books those are. Great fun.

You do you.

Some things I just don't understand. Nitpicking something you supposedly are a fan of I'd one. Imagine nitpicking your spouse and then saying it's out of love.

Agreed. I mean, I’ve think we all nitpicked our loved ones. It’s the finding glee in nitpicking the things and people we love that I find questionable.

Laris isn't a Watcher. You're thinking of Tallinn. Same actress, different characters.
My confusion stems from the use of multiple thespians performing many roles with the producers hoping that the audience would not notice. Unless it is intentional? So far in Star Trek, only noting those relevant to Picard in particular we have had:

Orla Brady:
  • Laris
  • Tallin
Isa Briones:
  • Soji
  • Dahj
  • Asha
  • Sutra
  • (Many more without names)
Brent Spiner:
  • Data
  • Noonian
  • Adam
  • Aarik
  • B-4
  • Lore
All of these performances had a pattern to them in on screen continuity.

Laris *could* be a Watcher or Supervisor. She could be a deep undercover operative, a sleeper agent (for a friendly force) who does not even know so herself, still believing herself to be a refugee. Picard has dealt with sleeper agents before, in particular Dahj who did not even realise that she was a synthetic. In the same vein, Laris may not realise that she is a Watcher with the purpose of protecting Picard, though she has always instinctively protected him ‘deep under cover’ whilst naturally falling in love with him in the process.

Laris could be a clone of Tallin, or a future projection of some sort… an engineered Romulan construct protecting Picard as he is *still* important to future events which are yet to unfold. When Laris sent Picard off to rescue Beverley, she may have sneakily followed behind him to keep check? Perhaps Laris’ purpose was to make sure that Picard followed this path?

Everything so far this series seems to have been deeply manipulated from the past whilst our crew were distracted by other things such as the Borg, with unfolding events being part of a ‘long game’ plan which is only now unfolding. But in any multiplayer game there are (at least) *two* sides, Laris could be on the good side? Either that or she is still Tal’Shiar, or worse still she is only interested in Picard so that she can inherit his vineyard or the profits from it’s sale.

Star Trk fans do. They have several nitpickers guides for star trek. Not sure why this is a problem. Star Trek fans love to find inconsistencies. It's been our way for generations.
Not all fans do. That's my point. There exists fans besides that type.

And constant nitpicking doesn't indicate love to me.

IDIC.

I don't know that I'd use the word "nitpick" but rather unmitigated critique and optimism. Personally, I'm just happy ppl are actually talking and enthusiastic about Star Trek, it makes my heart so happy.

I have given up on Star Trek making me happy. Too many years of being told "don't like that show; like this one." have taken their toll. I'd rather just find a small measure of entertainment and just not worry about happiness in a franchise.

Don’t let the fans of Star Trek ruin your enjoyment of Star Trek.
