Who do you think was the worst actor among the TNG cast?

I liked Bev for the most part. Her character went further than Muldaur's, she commanded the ship (doing pretty well as Captain, especially in combat against the Borg), solved Dr. Reyga's murder and she certainly had no qualms about confronting or disagreeing with Picard. I don't recall Wesley's paternity ever being brought into question during the show. Picard served more as a father figure to Wesley than anything else.
Wesley's paternity was a fannish thing right from the get-go. No, it was never discussed on-screen. But it certainly was in fandom.

If you're going to have a soap-opera setup on the show, expect a soap-opera reaction from the fans.

Was never a fan of Wesley Crusher, but I'd actually say Denise Crosby was the weakest actor among the main cast. She just came across as being very...rigid. I never found myself able to really engage with her character. Glad Worf took her place later on. He was a much more interesting character and Michael Dorn's performance was just behind Patrick Stewart's and Brent Spiner's in my view (at least as soon as the writers figured out how to handle his character from Season 2 onwards).

You know, I really wish they'd kept with the direction they took Worf in The Enemy. They had one moment where they gave him the edge to buck Human standards in a very dramatic way, & then they backed off of that, unfortunately. I thought that was just fantastic stuff

Spot was horrid, and quite a diva on set.
The male Spot was one of the best actors I've ever seen in any series or movie.

Unfortunately he was a diva off stage as well and demanded special treatment, like special cat food and a servant who would scratch him behind his ears when he was not on set. In the long run the producers got tired of him and his antics, such as meowing at an incredibly high pitch when he was dissaponted with something which was a big mistake because the series lost a great actor and it also lead to a boycott of the series from many cats, especuially from thje Cats Trade Union which was devastating for the ratings.

His sister became the female Spot who replaced him in "Genesis". A decen actress but without the skill and personality needed for the difficult role. Not to mention messing up the whole plot, I mean how could the male Spot suddenly become a female?

Personally I would love to see a new Star Trek series with the male Spot as the main character!

Buhahah! I heard the male Spot had some huge parties in his trailer........there was talk that they smoked a LOT of cat-nip!

Marina Sirtis. She improved over time and was actually decent in the last few seasons, First Contact, and Voyager.

Her accent was supposed to be "alien and exotic." I could have accepted that until Majel Barrett showed up. They tried to tapdance around it by having some reference to "I see you still haven't lost your accent"... which would imply that she got it from her father. But in the next season, his name sounds fairly North European. So where the hell did she get that goofy accent in-universe?

But comparing Season 1 to Season 7 (and beyond, when she appeared on Voyager and in the movies), I actually do prefer the earlier seasons. Her draaaawwwwled-out, slaaawpy accent later on just really grated on my ears.

Disagree with Diana Muldaur and Whoopi Goldberg.

Diana Muldaur played a character who was Picard's equal in a lot of ways, and took no crap from him. I didn't like her bigotry toward Data, but she did make an effort to overcome that. I wish she'd stayed. I really did not like Gates McFadden/Beverly, as her only real reason to be on the show was this continual question of "Is Picard Wesley's real father?".

And Whoopi Goldberg was just plain fun as Guinan. A friend once hosted the TNG version of the "How to Host a Murder Mystery" dinner/role-playing game. I was given the role of Guinan "because you have weird hats in your costume collection." We had a great meal and solving the mystery was a lot of fun.

Some time before TNG was offered to him, he was in a production of Hamlet with Lalla Ward (she was on hiatus from Doctor Who) and asked her how she could stand doing a TV series instead of acting on stage. Fast-forward to 1986 (or thereabouts; not sure when he was cast in TNG), and he took the job because he honestly expected it to last a year at most, if not be cancelled after 13 weeks. He never expected it to last 7 years plus movies.

I've only seen her in one other thing - a really bad TV-movie. I don't even remember the name of it. Frakes was in some miniseries... North and South? His wife, Genie Francis, is currently on General Hospital as Laura (the actor who played Luke retired a couple of years ago).

As a twin sister?

She would have been a lot better than that stiffer-than-cardboard "actress" they did get. I remember her from Dallas, in which she played Carter MacKay's daughter and was a brief love interest for Bobby. She couldn't act worth a damn in that show, either.

Not to worry. Fanfiction has provided. ;)
Wait so Patrick Stewart didn't think TNG would last a year? Is there any documentation of him saying that?

Steward (as the story goes) lived out suitcases during the first season, anticipating cancellation and his having to return to Britain.

"Lived out suitcases" what does that mean?
I believe there's a typo; the expression is "lived out of suitcases". In other words, he didn't buy a house, or make any permanent living arrangements because he didn't expect to need them. He expected the show to last a year... maybe, and then he would head back to the UK.

Surprise... the show lasted 7 seasons and 4 movies.

I think Stewart said the thing about TNG only lasting a season on the season 1 blu rays. There was a lot of chaos they first year.

I think some of you are confusing bad acting with actors and/or characters you don't like.

I don't think any of them were bad actors but some were weaker than others. the first two seasons had some bad writing and some of the weakest acting but by then end of the show they were all top notch - or I wouldn't have watched it.

Just about every actor here mentioned I can think of a bad, cringe-worthy episode and acting performance and also one where they did a phenomenal job. By the movies they were really good.

A tangent but I really wish they could have done more TNG movies. Throwing in the DS9 characters would have been awesome too. Ok now I am completely off topic.

Wheaton and Sirtis on the whole and I suppose their allotted roles doesn't give them room. But both had certain occasions were that acted very well nevertheless.
