Which Trek series can you not stand because you hate the crew?

"Which Trek series can you not stand" - does not compute! DOES NOT COMPUTE!

I wouldn't say I particularly dislike any of the crews, but I did find myself going off Janeway in the later seasons of Voyager with her ever-changing morals and mood swings between episodes :p

I also found Seven a bit too "shouty" and in-your-face, and Chakotay and Kim suffered from woeful underuse, so I find it hard to get emotionally invovled with the characters during the last two or so seasons.

To start off with, though, I thought they made up a very interesting crew, second only to DS9. Inconsistencies in the writing of stories and characters did a lot to hurt my enjoyment of the show, not the cast/crew.

VOY and DS9. ENT I have barely seen, TNG is ok - at least I like Picard. Yeah, I'm a TOS fan. :rommie:

None. I haven't watched much ENT, and didn't see all of DS9 because it was too dark for me. Not a big fan of Cardassians or Kazon; even the Klingons, Borg and other baddies can get one-dimensional on occasion. What I don't like is underutilization of some of the potential that was there. There are episodes for each series that make me lunge for the remote, though, but whole series? Nah.

Enterprise. I don't hate them (one should be somewhat invested in a character to care enough to hate it, I'd think), but I could never get past how uninteresting everyone was to me, starting with the captain. And I tried for 3 seasons before finally giving up. We really never clicked.

This is my reaction, too. I hear that the last season was decent, but I never made it that far.

Never got into Enterprise, except Vaughn Armstrong.
DS9 felt too limited and on TNG I was always waiting for the cardboard looking sets to fall down. Voyager had many intelligent storylines and the idea of real space exploration with no backup appealed to me.

For me, I find it very difficult to watch Voyager, even the "decent" episodes. The major reason is, with the exception of B'Elanna, I can't stand the characters. So, no matter how good the plot is, I can't get past that fundamental roadblock.

Are there any Trek series you dislike because of the same reason?

hmm I dont really hate any of the crews. I find them all watchable although I of course have my favorites.

I don't hate any of the crews. I have often disliked what the writers had them do, but the characters themselves were generally pretty interesting. I'd say that was true even of my least favorite show, ENT.

TNG and VOY and ENT. IMO all 3 have talking-head, generic cardboard cut-out characters with interchangeable dialogues. That puts me to sleep real fast.

I don't hate Voyager's cast, but I do hate how the majority of them became ciphers after the first three seasons. The Doctor was good and Janeway had her moments, the rest of them were dull except for Neelix who I wanted to beat with a crowbar.

Deep Space Nine. I would include ENT but since it's not Star Trek I wont.

The creator of any new Star Trek production would have to be an idiot to not know Star Trek's established history. And an even greater idiot to know it, and then ignore it.

Let me be perfectly clear here, I did not just call you an idiot, you called yourself an idiot. That's neat because it saves me time. :)

DS9. Watched a few episodes here and there (less than 10 actually) but never felt any interest in the chars.

I felt the same way when I first started watching DS9, and there was a time during early Voyager when I thought they had the most interesting crew. But I began to watch DS9 properly during season four and fell in love with those characters and they are without a shadow of a doubt the best developed characters on Star Trek. Each and every one of them felt like a real person, even the villains.

That's odd, my sarcasm detector is failing to detect any sarcasm from your post. It must be broken. :vulcan:

Enterprise:(

For me they tried to hard on making the characters sexy . I thought it was more soft porn than Star trek . Don't get me wrong, I'm a red blooded male but i like my Star trek to be military.

Voyager was a little Softly softly. :klingon:

Enterprise. I never really got interested in any of the cast members, and I thought it was a big mistake to work on developing a Big Three (a la TOS) rather than developing bunches of minor characters (like DS9, my favorite ST.) It's why Enterprise is the only modern Trek I've never seen in its entirety (I gave up after the first two seasons.)

I don't think I 'hate' any regular characters, with the exception of Wesley Crusher....although I'm not too keen on Neelix either.

But my least favorite crew as a whole would definitely be the TNG crew, at this point. Most of this is probably due to the 80's PC writing: that sometimes smug superiority that announces the attitude "We are evolved...and we are here to teach you and set you on the correct path". That does get tedious. And because of that, the TNG crew gets tedious and annoying.

I have no objection to the acting or anything like that (except for maybe Marina Sirtus, who was definitely the weak link on that show). And I am greatful that TNG was successful in bringing back Star Trek.

But, while I don't 'hate' them (I mean, it's a TV show, fer cryin out loud, and 'hate' is a pretty strong term), because of the reason stated above, the TNG crew has turned out to be the crew that I least identify with, in the end. And Nemesis certainly didn't help either, as that movie was really terrible...and it's hard not to associate that with the crew.

Contrary to alot of folks here, I actually quite like the VOY crew (Neelix excepted). :) I don't hold it against the crew that the show itself had the most missed potential of any of the Treks.

I can quite honestly say that there is no Star Trek series that I hated because I couldn't stand the crew. However...speaking strictly for myself, I found Enterprise to be the least interesting show, and that's primarily because I found the characters themselves to not be very interesting. That's probably because the actors themselves (including Scott Bakula) weren't really charismatic enough to bring them fully to life (with the arguable exception of John Billingsley as Dr. Phlox).

Or it could be that by approximately the same time Deep Space Nine ended, I had started to suffer from Star Trek Saturation...literally getting "Trekked out"!

A lot of people don't like Voyager all that much, and I certainly agree that it wasn't consistently great. But somehow the actors' performances managed to make up for that in spades, and their chemistry made the show watchable, if not always transcendent.

I've often wondered if Voyager suffered from a 'Trekked out' fan base in general when first broadcast. There's a discussion over in the V section with former 'haters' rewatching the show these many years later and seeing it differently. I wonder if I sat down and watched all DS9 and Ent epis again now these many years later, if/how my opinion would change regarding the crews :cardie: ?

I'm not letting that slide. One warning for flaming, you can send comments or questions via PM.

I tried watching Enterprise but when I realized my favorite character was Porthos the beagle decided to give it up.

its not so much the entire crew of any spicific show, as its certin characters that anoy me. but if i had to group them, i'd say that i didnt think the VOY crew was all to special (asside from the doctor), and neither was ENT. in my opinion
