The main warp fuel cell was removed, their sublight engines weren't. I mean it was even explained in the film but like the other 500 things people missed, here we are.

I know. I just imagine they also swapped out the ordinance in them with something smaller that could still make a boom. The cryo pods looked like they would take up quite a bit of room. :techman:

They did say the warheads were still in there, Khan would have made them as small and light as possible.

No, Khan says he put the people in the torpedoes. Whether Marcus knew this, I don't know. It makes little sense either way.
I agree it doesn't seem to make sense. The torpedos were developed by Marcus. Why would Khan put his people into them?

According to the script, Khan "tried to smuggle them to safety by concealing them in the very weapons I had designed." Okay, you can kinda see that. But it's still weird to imagine Khan having the run of a weapons lab plus access to 72 cryo-chambers, but feeling the need to escape, and thinking that concealing people in torpedos was an acceptable risk, and those torps then being searched despite Khan being entrusted with the aforesaid weapons lab.

It would have made much more sense if Marcus had put the augments in the torpedos to assure Khans' compliance.

I think Marcus probably had plenty of means to make sure Khan was compliant. Putting them in the torpedoes doesn't strike me as one of them.
Of course, given the nature of their relationship, I could see Marcus and Khan actively deceiving and misleading each other, as well as Kirk. So, Marcus put them in the torpedoes, and Khan finally discovered it. That's when he decided to try and act and escape, but Marcus stopped him and removed the torpedoes. So, Khan attacked and fled to Kronos. Only when Kirk announced the torpedoes did Khan relent, so he clearly thought they had been destroyed.

The rest is simple in that Marcus was going to launch them to kill Khan and get rid of the evidence.

I didn't like either except for the uniforms and McCoy. The parallel universe thing didn't work for me and Kahn just didn't seem to be needed for the 2nd film. Admiral Marcus would have been a better main villain. I'm hoping the 3rd one is good. If it is that will be my choice.
