Which Captain would have seen 5 lights first?

Yeah, I don' think they would have either. I thought they were all really strong people, who would be able to resist long enough for a rescue or a negotiated release.

Kirk would have reprogrammed the torture simulation so there were 5 lights. Then asked the cardassian, thus breaking him.

He doesn't beleive in the no-win scenario.

Sisko would have started with four and then gone to three...two...one...NONE, SUCKAH! :D

Archer would have seen five lights before he was even asked.

 Why even bother posting a response after this?

Remember, Sisko would rather be confined in a tiny box for days rather than change out of his filthy uniform so there's no way in hell he'd see 5 lights!

Janeway would only see two lights--the ones associated with her Borg friend.

Sisko will have Madred assassinated by a true Cardie.

To be honest, I think either Picard or Janeway would have broken first. There were a couple episodes where Janeway's guilt of stranding everyone plagued her and made it hard for her to even do her job. We saw how long it took Picard to break and I think others would last longer. I'm not trying to take away from him, though. He held out very long and Patrick Stewart gave a great performance.

I don't get this talk that Archer would break easily. Archer was a masochist. He'd try time and time again to have pain inflicted on him. He would say there were four lights just to get hurt more.

^Just look at how he acted in Azati Prime, it certainly seemed to me like he was just trying to piss them off as much as possible. And I really think he would probably act the same way with the Cardies.

the thing is, most people who say Archer would break first are doing it on hearsay. that is, they never SAW Azati Prime, much less ENT's third season. they've just HEARD that Archer gets beat up often and are basically going from there. they didn't SEE for themselves that he CAN be a stubborn badass if written that way.

besides, he knows about torture; he's been on the other side of it. ;)

I'm inclined to think Janeway would have seen six, out of contrariness. :)

Surely she would see Seven :D

Re: Which Captain would have seem 5 lights first?

^ Seven only has two lights ;)

Re: Which Captain would have seem 5 lights first?

Kirk would have humped the fourth light and karate chopped Madred.

Sisko would never have broken, he'd have just been like:

"4 or 5 lights, whatever - stop wasting my time Madred"

Re: Which Captain would have seem 5 lights first?

Janeway would go with whatever number of lights indicate the coffee's done.

Harriman, but expecting the fifth light to be installed Tuesday.

I agree that this is the best answer. I also agree that none of the captains would have caved all that easily given their training and demenor. Spinless wimps do not make captain as evidenced by the TNG episode "Tapestry." I do have to laugh though at those who picked Janeway to cave first and Kirk to go the distance. Janeway was Kirk... First season Archer was more likely to cave than 3rd or 4th season though, as I said, he still wouldn't...
