Which actors would you have liked to see in Star Trek

I do not mean to say what actor should have gotten the role, or should have tried for a role, but in general if you think an actor could have portrayed a character in Star Trek. So I guess only as a Guest Appearance...

Perhaps it would be best if we keep it in terms of actual possibilities, so only those who could have gotten a role when any Star Trek was produced - which would probably exclude most non-US actors.

Just today have been thinking about these:
Martin Landau as a Vulcan/TOS
Hugo Weaving as a Vulcan/ENT
Tim Curry as a Q/TNG

:bolian:

I would've loved to see Robin Williams in the role he was supposed to guest star as. I can't remember if it was in TNG or DS9. Sadly he was doing Hook at the time so he could not.

Casting Christopher Lloyd, Doc Brown in Back to the Future, as some kind of scientist or alien engineer in TNG would've been genius. Him playing Dr. Soong would've been amazing as well but Brent Spiner did an excellent job anyways.

Though it is definitely a long shot seeing Christopher Walken as a villain, especially a Romulan, in a Trek film is my dream. I think he could play the hell outta that role

Gillian Anderson as some sort of super villain (who doesn't die at the end).

Tom Hanks as an Admiral. I have heard that Tom is a Star Trek fan. It´s a crying shame that he never appeared in the show, or am I mistaken?

For TOS:
Diana Rigg in a blue mini as a doctor.
Dawn Wells as a yoeman, bringing the captain a coconut cream pie.
Elke Sommer as a space babe.
Stephanie Powers as anything :).
Patrick MacNee as an admiral.
Patrick McGoohan as a formidable alien foe.
Lloyd Bridges as a crazy renegade commodore.

Tom Hanks as an Admiral. I have heard that Tom is a Star Trek fan. It´s a crying shame that he never appeared in the show, or am I mistaken?

Hanks is a huge Trekkie. He wanted to play Zefram Cochrane in ST:FC but he was too busy directing That Thing You Do! so he couldn't.

Another big time Trek fan is Eddie Murphy. He was going to appear in ST IV as a college prof who sees the Klingon ship decloak right in the middle of the Super Bowl - he's the only one who thinks it's real, as opposed to a halftime special effect. But he decided to do The Golden Child instead.

@Zek: The role that Robin Williams was going to play, was Berlinghoff Rasmussen (Matt Frewer's character in "A Matter of Time" on TNG). I don't know why he didn't do it. I think he also had a scheduling conflict. He'd always wanted to play a TNG alien...

And Bill Mumy had repeatedly tried to get on DS9 but they always wanted him to play an alien. He held out on them until they let him play a human (Lt. Kellin in "The Siege of AR-558").

In ST III, Edward James Olmos (!) auditioned to play Kruge. Between Nimoy and Harve Bennett, one of those wanted EJO for the role but was overruled by the other.

She [Claudia Christian]auditioned to play Seven of Nine, apparently. I must say I'm glad she didn't make the cut.
Agreed, she's no Seven. Seven is great as she is. But I'd like to see Claudia Christian in a more rebellious role. (I'm a B5 fan, yes)

Playing who?
I think I would like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger. He's done plenty of sci fi. I think Arnie as a borg would be the most awesome!

Or as a Soong-type android ;)

^ Arnold was also supposed to appear in the oft-rumored 'Duelling Qs' episode of TNG that never got made. I don't know if that was ever seriously considered for filming, and for God's sake, I hope it wasn't.

Inspired by a discussion in the "Why not go animated?" thread:

Kiefer Sutherland as an Andorian :luvlove:

Other ideas:
Matt Bomer as a Bajoran gentleman thief?
Grace Jones as a Klingon priestess/warrior/lady of a great house?
Natalie Dormier as a scheming politician/aristocrat/ambassador.

Christopher Lloyd but not as a klingon. As what he does best, either a spacy guy, maybe a Bajoran who's had too many orb trips or something.

Or some crazy scientist who've found a way to turn a runabout into a time machine... only it has to reach Warp 8.8!!!
