Whey Protein Shakes

Whey doesn't taste good.

If you get the chocolate stuff, mix it with milk instead of water. Otherwise, choke it down and learn to love the taste.

Or try making a smoothie out of it or something.

Meh - I think the O.N. Chocolate and Strawberry Whey are pretty good (and I do 'em with water only).. but the Vanilla was unbelievably horrible.

However, I buy it locally at a retail store and they let you return/exchange anything. So I took it back and got the chocolate.

^Oh, I love the ON Whey, but it definitely takes some getting used to. I can safely say that when I started taking it I thought it was awful.

It's just not a taste that people expect.

Sounds like Ensure. I went through a phase when I drank that a lot.....absolutely hated it at first, but after a time I *always* put it in my milk. Of course, I've since stopped, and I suspect I'd hate it again if I gave it another go.....

My dad was giving me the leftovers from his protein shakes when I was 4 years old, so it's always been something I've loved.

The stuff I have doesn't taste too bad, but I'll probably switch brands when I run out of this current stuff to one of the ones you guys recommended. That, and it's another few days will the sale at GNC.

I usually mix it with water and a little milk as it's not as nice with water alone. Depending what you buy you could drink Protein before sleep too to help your muscles.

Everyone likes something different. I personally can't stand any Vanilla shakes. Try different things though. Add water or milk. If it doesn't mix up enough for you, put it in a blender. You can make an easy smoothie by adding milk, ice, half a banana, protein powder, a scoop of peanut butter, frozen strawberries, etc. Play around and you'll find something you like.

I get Dymatize here in Taiwan...they have some great flavors like Orange Dreamsicle and Pina Colada.
I wouldn'y buy from GNC as they are overpriced. If you live in the US you should be able to find a gym or a wholesaler not far fom you. $40-60 is what I'd expect to pay for a 5lb tub. maybe even cheaper.
I had a Canadian brand called PVL that even a blender couldn't mix...crud at the bottom.

Protein shakes are the best if you want to lose weight too;they're just protein, which you need anyway. If can afford to calorically, mix a chocolate powder with chocolate milk and you'll never need dessert again!

I don't get those really expensive containers. I just get whey from Wal-Mart or Superstore here in Canada for like $25. Yes, it may not be the fanciest stuff but it's still whey, has only 110 Calories, 26g of protein, no aspartame, and very little carbs. For a more chocolatey flavour, add pure cacao or Splenda for sweetness. If you put it in a blender and add stuff, you will find it will taste a lot better. I'm so used to it that I just add water and stir really fast with the handle of a spoon or fork.
