Since then, while working in Sydney, I've had the odd experience of three different women saying to my face, "Hey, if you and your wife split, you let me know, okay?"

I hate that comment. It's a "safe" thing to say from a woman who is unavailable or to a guy who is unavailable.. Usually the version I get is, "If only I weren't married ..." or "If anything, God forbid, ever happened to Bob ..." and it's always from a tremendously sexy, very happily married woman.

When I was younger I actually thought it was compliment. Now I find it fairly specious and wish they just wouldn't say anything.

Hmm. Maybe it was a 'had to be there' thing. These people were sincere, it was kinda out of the blue, and they seemed warm and kept a close eye on me the next couple of years until I finished that job. One of them implied strongly that if I was up for it, her bnoyfriend was dumped.

But that was a road I wasn't ready to travel. Which in itself is a long story, for a different kind of thread.

Nothing kills interest like time...except maybe baulking at a kiss. From experience I can tell you that if you are every stupid enough, as I was, to do that to a very attractive young lady the only comfort you will have is your palm.

Apparently people have but i've never noticed it until they've mentioned it to me after the fact ...

That's basically been my experience as well. Others have tried telling me that some girl or other has been checking me out, but I always seem to miss it and I don't think I've ever really been convinced it was true.

Oh, actually I now do recall one instance when I was aware of it. And I actually slow danced with this woman. I have to say though that I let the opportunity pass because I knew she was married, I soon after met her husband, and I just didn't want to go near such a situation.
