When two people say the exact thing at the same time...

Yes, this is what we used to do, too. Didn't everybody?

Maybe it was a girly thing and the boys did the Jinx thing?

Clearly a global girly thing, which is quite scary in itself.
Not quite global. Around here, girls and boys did the jinx thing (and double jinx, but I've never heard of the coke buying thing). The only difference was that the boys hit harder when you talked before the jinx was removed.

Jinx. And then the person who forgot to say "jinx" cannot talk until someone says his name. If he's 7, that is.
This.

If you're older and this happens, I believe the appropriate response is to take a drink. :p

Around here we say: 'you owe me a brew' -which of course can end up being quite a few if both involved parties also say that simultaneously :rommie:

It is a rather childish thing though -and I don't think I've heard anyone say it for decades...

"You talked while you were jinxed, I get to punch you in the arm. It's not my fault, it's the rules."

:guffaw:

That reminds me of what my brothers-in-law said they did growing up. On family car trips, everytime they saw a VW Beetle, they say, "Bug!" and punch the other in the arm.

They tended to end up with sore arms because they didn't always require there to actually BE a car there.

For us it was "Punchbuggy Blue" or whatever color, and the first one to say it got to punch the late comers. Same deal as with perdinkles. :techman:
