When two people say the exact thing at the same time...

Agenda

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Isn't there a phrase that follows that? Not 'knock on wood'. It's something else, but a similar concept...

When I was a girl, when two children said the same thing they locked their little fingers and made a wish.

Jinx. And then the person who forgot to say "jinx" cannot talk until someone says his name. If he's 7, that is.

If "jinx" is followed up with "padlock," then only the person who jinxed you can say your name to release you from vocal bondage.

Childhood is such a cruel time. :(

"You talked while you were jinxed, I get to punch you in the arm. It's not my fault, it's the rules."

:guffaw:

one day I was out with my brother and a friend on a Saturday, and we were in a part of town that was not busy at all. my friend and I said at the exact same time "Maybe the Langoliers are coming . . ."
holy crap did we just . . . !? yes we did! that was totally awesome! :D
then we went and ate hotdogs from Hofmann's

^ Nice. :D

There was one time when a friend of mine went with me to a local car dealership to find myself a used car. After listening to the sales guy talk about one particular car for about 10 minutes, he finishes up with "and it has everything you want."

Both my friend and I said at the same time, "how many cup holders does it have?"
(For years we have this running joke that no matter how awesome or how terrible a car looks or drives, as long as it has a lot of cupholders it's a great car).

J.

I used to get, "You two must be in love." Same thing when I'd pick up the phone to call someone and already be connected. (Phone didn't even ring. That used to happen with intra-campus calls in my university days.)

That reminds me of what my brothers-in-law said they did growing up. On family car trips, everytime they saw a VW Beetle, they say, "Bug!" and punch the other in the arm.

They tended to end up with sore arms because they didn't always require there to actually BE a car there.

Yes, this is what we used to do, too. Didn't everybody?

We never did this, but I know a couple other families who, when the kids would see a VW beetle, would say "slugbug" and punch/slug the other in the arm.

My mom wouldn't have stood for that.
