When did the Janeway hatred truly start to coalesce?

For me it was when I watched her blow up the caretaker's array before sending Voyager home instead of, I dunno...maybe leaving a timed explosive to blow it up after they left? Hell if nothing else one crewman could have taken one for the team and activated the explosives manually after Voyager left.
What an interesting take the series could've been if what you mentioned were done and took Voyager further away from the Alpha Quadrant?

Tuvok finds the system to send them back but notes that it will take several hours to activate. So, they'd have to be able to defend the Array for all that time while working on the system as well, under fierce Kazon onslaught and hope not too many of them get killed. Fleeing is no option, because then the Kazon get the Array.

Given that sending them back was so complicated perhaps a timing explosive couldn't be set exactly. You might not know whether Tuvok would need 5, or 16 hours and you don't want to give the Kazon several hours after you've left to be able to dismantle the explosives. Though I would expect 24th century explosive to be intelligent enough to be able to instruct it to explode 30 seconds after sequence <x> has been completed.

Nothing against Janeway, but in my book a Captain would have done the job themselves rather than rope a crewman into it.

The racism acertion was about how they wouldn't let him direct.

I think he also threw it out there for why they apparently backed off from firing him entirely.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Wang contributes to the upcoming documentary, and I'll be pretty deeply disappointed if it's all whitewashed, pardon the phrasing.

There's no guarantee it would have been possible to adapt the technology to get them home. Maybe a healthy Caretaker could have, but a healthy Caretaker wouldn't have pulled them in to begin with.

In a project I'm playing with, Janeway sees what would have happened if she made certain choices differently... for better or for worse.

"What if Janeway had promoted Ensign Kim?" :p

I kid, though it's not completely beyond belief that that might have made a difference if there was a scenario where the chain of command made a difference.

I think it would have made a difference to 'Warhead' - Tom couldn't be on the away team because he outranks Harry, then the EMH didn't listen to Harry.

No, just a classic example of how a different choice can alter apparently unrelated events. Since this is not the Fan Fiction section, that's all I'll say. I'm on enough moderators' bad side as it is.

So getting back on topic, it would be interesting to see how the fan reaction would have been, say, if Janeway had decided that a certain transporter accident had the right to live. Would she have "abandoned two of her crew, including a valued friend"? Some might think so.

Never hated Janeway, got frustrated with the writing of the character from time to time, but I thought Mulgrew gave it her all.

There really wasn't a right answer to Tuvix. If she had been near Federation space, that decision would've been taken out of her hands.

I'm %40 sure that this is actually what happened.

Tuvix put his Katra in Janeway, and then he killed himself and kept the ship.

What? How can you do this?! This is outrageous! It's unfair! How can you be a lieutenant and not wear a second pip?

He does. He is promoted when Janeway is not in command.

Ha ha... and his running around the ship and begging for his life was just role play. And Janeway's crazy moments were the result of having three different personalities wrestling around in her head! I like your scenario even better than either of mine!

Don't worry, it'll make sense.

It's been remarked that while Janeway was certainly compassionate at times, she was the most ruthless of the captains, which might explain the antipathy some fans had for her. Thoughts on that?
