When did action figures become adult collectables?

Errr....no. G.I. Joe was the name of the team, not the character himself. It even says right in the link you provided:
:rolleyes:

The character himself didn't have a name, so all of them were called G.I.Joe just as MeanJoePhaser also pointed out and supported by the link provided if you read past the first paragraph.

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I was the one said that G.I. Joe was NOT the name of the character and was the name of them as a team. YOU were the one who was saying that an actual character's name was G.I. Joe.

Fail. You botched your own argument.

Just incase you forgot where you went wrong.
Is your life so empty that a nitpick about a toy means this much to you?:lol: I'm sure it will help you climb the economic ladder of success.:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Looks like the jokes on you.;)

Yes Pingfah, overseas he's "Action Man".:)

Well I think part of it also came from people getting more and more picky about how a toy looks. No longer content with a basic representation, they wanted it to look almost exactly like it looked in the source media. And then Cyberware created their bodyscanning technology in the late 90s early 2000s, where you could create a 3D model which could then be transferred into a wax form and make a near exact duplication of a real person in plastic. Although companies like Playmates still sucked LOL

But... as time went on people wanted more and more sophisticated and articulated and detailed figures. And they went from being kid's toys to "collectibles" and decorations.

The action figures of today are like the plastic models of yesterday, except the only work involved requires finding them and then forcing them out of their packaging LOL. Although now there's a HUGE customizer community who create characters and such that haven't been made yet and as a way to be more creative, to make an already amazing toy by 80s/90s standards into a mini work of art.
