I think people are trying to deny the plainly obvious fact that a show that features mostly women as the main cast is, practically by definition, female-centered. Again: That's fine. I've watched a lot of shows like that. But I do think SNW has a subtext of hostility towards men baked in specifically so that women can appear strong in contrast to them (call it a post-#metoo rationale) rather than simply writing the characters better. It isn't layered on super thick, but if the situation were reversed, if the male characters were doing the exact same thing to the ladies in the exact same proportions, you would notice it instantly.DS9 had no fewer than eight important main cast and supporting/recurring characters if we count Jadzia, Ezri, Kira, Keiko, Leeta, Kai Winn, Molly O'Brien and Ishka. Entire episodes revolved around female characters and one even involved Quark donning female Ferengi makeup and appearance to experience what Ferengi females go through on a regular basis. I don't remember DS9 being accused of steering too far towards a "female audience."
