What's your favorite thread you made, that nobody else liked?

I'm sure everyone has made a few flops. For whatever reason people just don't respond to it or them. I can't recall many of them from way back when so I will go with some most recent for me.

1 Thread where I described the entire life cycle of Benny Russell and how he it impacted him in creating each Trek show.

2 Back when the Klingon thing was just getting discovered I made a thread about if was possible the Vulcans might not have pointed ears, on the logic that if you reinvent one iconic look why would they have no problem with doing it with the Vulcans. Everyone thought it was far fetched.

3 Actually I do recall one old thread. Back when people were talking about what kind of ship Enterprise would be I fell in love with the idea of it being a retro-fitted cruise ship and the warp core would be placed in the old swimming pool, it drained of course. Also I had a Klingon Ninja theory that people didn't think was good.

Seven years ago almost to the day, I started a thread for "Private Jokes." Everybody has them -- little in-jokes, obscure references, private names for things that only you and your family or circle of friends would “get.” I thought it would be a great topic for a thread. It got exactly three responses.

On the other hand, my "Cannibalism" thread was a big hit. Every now and then someone still brings it up!

I'd like to bring it up now, in fact:

Somebody in that thread mentioned eating fried grasshoppers. I have actually done this (although in my case they were toasted, not fried), and they were totally delicious. EXTREMELY spicy, though.

But don't take my word for it... ;)

^ Weird... someone (OK, you) brought the grasshopper thing up in this cannibalism thread too.

What is it about the concept of eating a fellow human that seems to immediately make people think of grasshoppers??

I sometimes feel I'm cursed. I'll come up with something I think is an interesting topic and absolutely nobody responds and the thread sinks faster than a lead weight. Everybody bitches about how terrible modern Trek is, so I started a thread where people could choose their own Trek dream team of actors, writers and producers that they would love to see. Nobody responded. Hell, sometimes even a "This thread sucks," or a "Go fuck yourself" would be better than the no response :)

Of course one issue is that Trek has been around forever and the internet also seems to have been around forever. It's kind of hard to find a new angle to talk about the shows that hasn't been talked about, already a millions times.

Too many to list. But there have been some great ones that went over well. But yes, probably more bombs.

I could have missed the paid, but I would have had to miss the dance.

So are you a thread starting virgin? You have never started even one? You should give it a try because it can be fun.

Jason
I don't know. I've seen a couple that you started and...... :ack: (see? wiseass comment :D )

Seriously though, I've thought about starting threads but seeing as how this board has been around for many, many years, I'm sure that the stuff I wanted to talk about has been talked to death by now. I wish the board rules allowed bumping of old threads but I accept that's the rule here (even if said rule don't make much sense to me. I've never been on a message board that's been so anti-old thread bumping).

I agree that coming up with new things to talk about is hard, especially with the older Trek shows. It's kind of fun though when you come up with a new angle though in reality someone, somewhere has likely already thought about it as well.

I may have started one or two, but I don't remember doing so and I wouldn't care enough to keep track of them if I did.

Wait, is this the thread about threads, or the thread about children?
