What's Your Favorite Song of the Day?

Well I'm listening to "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II" by KISS right now. Awesome song
Always reminds of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey :D

I would say anything by the Beatles does it for me,especially l
"Late Beatles" (1967 forward).

I haven't heard that much today, but of the ones I have heard, Heartland by George Strait.

I love that song! I had it stuck in my head for quite a while after watching Pure Country a couple of weeks ago. A lot of the songs in that movie are really great.

Phil Vassar's "This is My Life". I still can't believe the dirty dogs from the record label ot it pulled from the radio because it's "angry".

Best song on my XM radio commute to work (about 10 songs):

Whatever It Takes - Lifehouse

Best song listened to on my iPod at work (about 10 songs so far):

New Orleans is Sinking - The Tragically Hip

BTW, I've never heard of the Aphex Twins. Linky to music, perhaps?

:rommie: No, that's just one guy. Richard D. James (aka Aphex Twin) is a pioneer of the electronic music genre. He practically invented drill'n'bass and revolutionized the ambient genre. He had a major influence on MANY musicians.

This song you'll probably like: Aphex Twin – Avril 14th

This one most likely not so much: Aphex Twin – Vordhosbn

I just realized that I've been humming the theme from Hook all morning. (And I've not heard it since the year after the movie came out.)

Have not heard any songs today, having only been up for half an hour, but I have a song stuck in my head... Dean Martin's "Ain't That A Kick In The Head". Probably because Shatner sang it on Boston Legal last night.

(You know, I hate to say it but I'm getting a little tired of that song, too. Despite being featured in the original Ocean's Eleven, it was not really a hugely popular or iconic Dino tune, at least not compared to something like "That's Amore" or "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You", for a long time. Since about, say, the film Swingers used it, it's become somewhat ubiquitous, especially as musical shorthand for Las Vegas or 'Vegas-ness'. Great song, but it's beginning to wear out its welcome with me.)

First one is mellow, but is likely very good go-to-sleep music.

Second one is fine...although I don't really like the video at all.

I know next to nothing about electronic music, however...so my opinion means pretty much nothing.

Thanks for the links though. I think it's fun to actually listen to each other's music when we are not familiar with it already - that's what can really make a thread like this fun, and help us all broaden our horizons.

Well, I think one doesn't have to KNOW anything about music to have an opinion about it (same goes for all art forms, IMHO). Music is something you rather feel than understand. So your opinion actually means very much! :)

Yeah, I think so, too. A good opportunity to get to know some new music.

"Faster" - Manic Street Preachers

:D

In fact, this week I've been listening to "The Holy Bible" again. :D :D

I'm not sure if this is a Guilty Pleasure or not, but I've been on a Hootie and the Blowfish high lately. I think the reason for it is the lead singer, Darius Rucker evidently has gone country and I heard the new single on the radio the other day. Because of that, I've been listening to a lot of Hootie (I don't get the connection either), mainly "Let her Cry." I forgot how much I liked this group. It's almost like the same category as Alanis Moressite. 90s pop that you tend to forget but was still really good.

The best song I've heard today (so far - on my commute in to work) is an easy pick:

Jealousy - The Gin Blossoms

This has always been one of those songs that cause me to reach for the volume knob and turn it up louder. Great driving music!

I played it twice, I was loving it so much. :p
