What's the worst they could do?

The worst thing they could do is listen to the whiny fanboys who believe Star Trek belongs to them and that their one singular narrow vision of what Trek should be is the only true way of Star Trek.

What's the worst that they could do? Fire J.J. Abrams and replace him with Michael Bay, Paul W.S. Anderson, Rob Cohen, or Stephen Sommers.

They could do a lot worse that replacing Abrams with Bay. After all, Bay's Transformers have averaged $350 over 3 films. That's about 40% than Star Trek made. Money talks and Bay's movies get listened to.

Here's a plot outline :

Explosion, car chase, fight, exposition, another explosion, another chase, another explosion, some awkward inappropriate sexual 'humour', two lines of dialogue (mainly exposition), another fight, yet another fight, yet another explosion, end.

Seems to work for his other films...

Worst thing... i think would be just to 'update' the old movies with new technology and actors...

can you imagine going through the V'ger storyline again with the new Enterprise and crew... no thanks...

M

Would not have enough stuff blowing up for them.

Bay and JJ seem to have a lot in common, do they not?:borg:

More than any other franchise, wasn't it fanboys (and fangirls) that kept Trek on the air with a letter campaign, that kept its memory alive, that pushed to resurrect Star Trek?

It doesn't belong to them, but I think you could say that in some ways Trek does owe the fans...a lot.

Not that I'm advocating a narrow vision of what Trek should be...since it seemd like it was at least partially creative stagnancy that led to Trek's end on television.

40+ years later? When does it end? The sense of entitlement?

"What's the worst that could happen?"

Let J.J Abrams reboot it into a Star Wars wannabe.

Bugger.
:techman:

Don't give JJ any more ideas.

He's probably going to make some super annoying crew member akin to that.

Steven King owes his fans a lot for making him such a popular writer, but I can't recall him ever asking his fans to dictate to him what book he should write next. He has that pretty much under control all by himself. Same with Orci, Kurtzman, etc.

Faux chest pieces and spray tans.

If they're going to show some man beef, I want it to be real.
