What's the worst relation(ship) in all of Star Trek?

If they would not normally have those desires, then they're not secret but non-existent. :rommie:
No, those desires exist all right. It's just that they wouldn't normally act upon them for various reasons (inappropriateness, shyness, etc.,). It's like having a private fantasy about a co-worker at the job who is really off-limits...
No, that doesn't really make sense to me. You might perhaps make a case that the Jadzia part of Jadzia Dax's personality found Sisko attractive but wouldn't admit it to herself because the Dax part of her personality thought of him as an old friend (of Curzon's) in a very non-erotic, non-romantic way... maybe Jake would feel that it's inappropriate to have a crush on an older woman...
In Jake's case, he probably would have been too shy to approach Kira or perhaps thought he didn't have a real chance with her anyway.
but Kira and Bashir? If they ever had any real attraction for each other - anything nearly that strong that they would start locking lips as soon as their inhibitions were lifted - what reason would either of them have to be shy or inhibited about it?
That's probably where the subsconscious part of it comes from that Bashir actually mentioned. You do have people that simply aren't aware of their true feelings for one another until something drives it to the surface or until a rare opportunity presents itself.

Whether or not they decide to pursue that relationship or pretend a brief moment of passion never happened is up to the persons involved, IMO...

I always liked the sexual tension between Torres and Seven. If there was ever one unrealized lesbian couple in Star Trek, that should've been it. :borg:
O yes, I'm with you on that one. Would have been nice...

Meh. You know, I never saw that one happening. Btw, looooove your Listy Listy avatar, Eleanor! He's the best!

Anyway, my least favourite couple is Trip/T'Pol. She always had way more chemistry with Archer. Way more. What actually happened was sooooo disappointing!

I thought I was the only one who hated Trip/T'Pol. It came across as forced and was totally unnecessary.
Neelix/Kes is ridiculous and...well, ridiculous. Seven and Chakotay made no sense whatsoever.

They're ALL forced. Hey let's have some characters fall in love. How about, uh [writers throw darts at bulletin board with cast photos].

I'll nominate Odo/Kira. He is not sexual; a piece of a collective. Romantic love for a mammal? Please.

I think Chakotay and Seven...worse relation ship ever...
Like...Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina.....*shakes* eeeewwwww

Well, yeah, but some work better than others. Trip and T'Pol seemed a lot more forced than some of the others, at least to me. Sure, opposites attract, but I think there's a balance between that and similarities, which T'Pol and Tucker did not have. At least I don't think so.
I liked Spock and Uhura.
Odo/Kira was better when it was unresolved, just feelings Odo had that he couldn't explain or understand himself, although I do think their personalities do complement one another very well.

At least Trip / T'Pol had some emotion (yeah, I know one is a Vulcan) in their relationship. They shares one of the most emotional scenes in Star Trek I can remember.

Trip/T'Pol. Almost derailed my interest in Enterprise.

Same here. It made no sense for a bigot like Trip to fall in love with the object of his hatred. And T'Pol was just showing spectacularly bad taste in men.

What gave you the idea that Tripp was a bigot?

If that was the case why would he want to be there at all exploring space?

Not to say he wasn't ignorant at times.

He just seemed that way to me whenever he encountered an alien. He always seemed to look down his nose at any nonhuman.

Some people classify anyone with a southern accent as a bigot, which is ironic since a bigot is someone that typecast a group of people in a negative way.

Huh? just because I think Trip is a loudmouth jerk (and yes, bigoted), I'm bigoted against all southerners?

Where the hell did that come from?

I must submit that flash-in-the-pan romance between Will Riker and what's-her-face from the Androgynous Planet. That goes in all time top ten for Worst Premise Ever.

 Actually, I wasn't even referring to Barclay... ewww. I was thinking more along the lines of the guy in "The Price" and that other guy in "The Masterpiece Society"...

Or the vampire guy from "Man of the People."
Or Tom Riker...
Or Worf...
Or Will Riker...
I'm beginning to wonder if "ship's counselor" is some kind of 24th century euphemism for a Starfleet-comissioned prostitute...

Don't mean to go all OT in my own thread, but why is a woman with a few sex partners a "prostitute", when Riker probably got more action on an episode-by-episode basis than all the characters combined?

I don't seem to recall where I implied that Will Riker wasn't a greasy manstitute.

Actually, I had in mind the fact that apart from an occasional contribution as Enterprise' pseudo-telepathic Dear Abby, Troi doesn't seem to actually do anything on the ship. At least in Encounter at Farpoint she has occasion to push a button or two or read a display or something (was she supposed to be the communications officer or what?) but it isn't until Generations that we find out for sure that Troi even knows that the helm is.

I mean, at least Riker's sluttiness is just a day job. What's Troi's excuse?

Like who?

Like every Vulcan he met, except for that emotional guy, and every Xindi he ever met, although, admittedly I guess he was justified in that case.

Doesn't change my opinion though. I hated Trip. Reed was a much more approachable and likable guy. He should have been the third main character.

Thanks sunshine!
Yea, T-pol/Archer would have been much better. She never appeared to be very interested in Trip anyway. It was more like a sex thing for me.

Chakotay and Seven by a mile.If Archer/TPol had happened that would be a close second.

Between regulars?

Voyager relationships aside, it has to be Riker/Troi. I just couldn't fathom how they got together and had a serious(ish) relationship in the first place.

Star Trek romances were never that great to begin with.

As far as fandom shipping goes, I really don't like Spock/Uhura. I concede, however, that they were a great pair for the new movie! But Deanna/Riker ... shiver shiver. I mean, honestly? Riker gives me le creepos.

o'brien/keiko. i felt keiko was the most alien female in all of star trek, and never figured out why a nice guy like o'brien would fall in love with that one. did you notice how little she changed when possessed by the pah wraith? almost rivalled but not quite by worf/troi. someone like worf needs steroids, not downers.
