What's the purpose of Grudge

As far as I can tell her main purpose seems to be marketing. I think it feels weird that there's no twist about her because she doesn't get enough screen time to justify all the attention she gets. I'm glad she really does seem to be just a cat though.

In a stunning S4 finale twist, Grudge is revealed as not only the fiendish mastermind behind the DMA, but via flashbacks is shown as the true power behind T'Kuvma, the architect of Control and the real cause of The Burn.

"Michael, it's always been me. The author of all your pain."

Burnham: Book, if you don't stop your insane plan now, I'm beaming Grudge into space!
Grudge: :weep:

What is the point of a cat seems like some kind of Zen koan.
Your post made me think of this line from Parks and Rec:

Seriously though, I really do keep thinking something is going to happen specifically regarding grudge, but I think it's really just supposed to be an accessory to how we see Book.

OK, I just want to say that this is the best post I've read in a long time.

Grudge is a red herring.

I originally thought the trailers for Season Three were suggesting that Book and Grudge might have been DSC's version of Gary Seven and Isis.
