Whats the deal with Klingon faces?

If we get to see Klingons in ST 2012, I would prefer ridges. But I wouldn't be opposed to an update of the make-up effect to make it look more realistic. Not only the ridges themselves but the appliances to the face and the teeth. Make everything look a little less like rubber.

right, a bony ridge under the skin and muscle on the head wouldn't be as well defined as Worf's . . . it would be noticeable, but the features would be very smoothed out
for instance if you've ever seen people who get implants in their heads (body mods) like silicon spheres embedded in the temples to mimic horn stubs

id lolz if aliens similar to Klingons where discovered in 200-300 years when we develop solar sailers.

my great great great great grandson would be like. "HA! super uber great grandad was right, starwars is gay!"

could use the excuse that the TOS klingons where lesser klingons or half breeds.

i thought they got ridges because of all the head butting they do. they evolved, extra skullage, to compensate for said head butting.

Since the Rura Penthe scene in Trek XI was cut, I think XII should have Klingons without ridges (without explanation), just to mess with us fans.

My impression with those cut scenes is that...
they were wearing the lasks to cover the shame of losing their ridges.
There are close-ups and pics without the helmets at (I think) scifinow.co.uk. Only the visible areas were made up, but the nose especially suggests a bumpy head above.

I heard a great theory, that the helmet/trenchcoat look was to make rendering armies of 100,000 CG Klingons in STXII easier.

It's probably not true, but ever since I heard it I really want to see 100,000-strong armies of helmet-and-trenchcoat wearing Klingons!:klingon:
