I think the O'Briens are on Cardassia helping with reconstruction. (In the DS9 relaunch.)
I second Vic Fontaine. Like a lot of DS9 supporting characters, the timeskip left him blowing in the wind - the last time I remember seeing him was in one of the Mission Gamma books.
And obviously, the Dominion...

Oh that wonderful, enormous and formerly well-told cast. Trier, Vedik Yevir, Opaka, Taran'atar, the Even Odds, the O'Briens since the Never-Ending Sacrifice, Counselor Matthais, Macet ... .
The list really goes on, and it does sadden me that none of these characters (except perhaps (hopefully!) the Chief & Keiko in Brinkmanship, maybe) will likely be focused on in upcoming DS9 lit.
James T. Kirk. His last 24th century adventure, Captain's Glory, came out ages ago.
Yeah, didn't that end with Kirk coming up with some sort of awesome idea for what he and his friends were going to do next that was never actually told to the reader?

What makes you say that?

Lol, it may be that the long list of characters may appear in part in DRG's duology, though I doubt in as much detail as they had in the relaunch.

What makes you think DRGIII's duology is the only DS9-R lit that will be released? There's no reason to think there won't be future DS9-R novels.

But the Relaunch has - understandably - been lost among the other series and demands.
