What would we do without TV?

Seriously, the entire nature of this forum almost completely relies on Telivision programs. But what if there was no TV, would this forum even exist? Would people be here discussing anything? Would we all be dead? Would we all actually be outside talking with people face to face?

I'd still post in Misc! I rarely post anywhere else anyway. As far as TV goes, I'd estimate that I've had TV only about 16 out of the 26 years of my life. Sometimes we had TV when I was a kid, sometimes not, and I had TV only one out of five years in college. I have cable now. And my roommate bought a 40-something-or-other inch plasma-majiggy for the living room. It's kinda nifty, but I'm sure I could survive life without TV again rather easily.

I have a TV, but I haven't had cable in about 15 years, and I don't follow many programs. I do watch a lot of DVD's though. That's generally how I get into TV shows. I see what the buzz is on something, decide if I want to watch it, and then get the season on DVD. I'll follow it on the Internet if I want to keep watching it after that.

Reminds me of an old Dave Allen joke. People say television is killing conversation. If you go back further they probably said that about movies, and radio, and books. But if you didn't have TV, radio, movies, or books what are you going to talk about? Can you imagine a conversation in the 9th century? " My left big toe is bigger than my right big toe".

We would all be listening to the radio instead - there would be soap operas, plays (including sci-fi), quiz shows etc to listen to.

I use my tv for dvd viewing at night. I haven't had cable for 3 years now! My computer serves all my viewing needs :D

Read, at least I would.

We talk about a lot of things here, I imagine we'd continue.

DVDs would get caught up with.

Life would find a way to fill the "void."
