What would be your dream video game?

Bikers, shotguns, and zombies... what's not to like?

Sony made a huge error in cancelling the sequel. What they should have done was hit the gas and threw even more money at it, and not rush it at all. Let it be fully debugged before shipping--the market would gladly wait. Boom. Blow Bethesda right out of the water in terms of open sandbox worlds.

Dream “Video Game”?

(admitting that the last game I played was an Arcade Donkey Kong in my friends basement, decades ago)

Does a functional Holodeck count?

“Top…Men”.

Oh, the internet and sci fi pop culture have some doozies. I always liked "shtako" from Defiance. lmao So punchy and fun to say. "Choobies" is another great one, this time from Star Wars. And then there's Farscape's ubiquitous "frell." Like, when you beat the shtako out of someone with a well-placed kick to the choobies, and then cops show up and you're like, "Frell me, I'm going to jail."

Could they make a Pokémon game that let's you choose whether you're going to be the Big Hero and fight Team Rocket?

Nothing destroys video game heroism more totally than being forced into it.

Yes I love that word and I miss Defiance. They should have been allowed to conclude the story the way they wanted. Season 4 would have wrapped it all up nicely,

Are Castithans related to plants? I read that online and it made me chuckle. Shtama Tarr was one not to be trifled with.

I would dearly love to see a Star Trek game on the same scale as Horizon Zero Dawn in a huge open world where you can build your ship, find your crew and save the galaxy

That would be badass. I loved playing Defiance--the quads were so much fun! I loved riding around and doing 360s and 720s off the jumps. lmao That was the best part of the game!

Why is it these game companies don't look far enough ahead to make proper sequels? Defiance suffered ONLY from the wrong company buying it to turn it into Defiance 2050. Should have opened up the other areas, hired the old programmers or bought the engine's programming software, and expanded it.

Star Trek meets Wing Commander meets Destiny. lmao Are you listening, Naughty Dog??? Looking at you, DICE! Rockstar, where you at??

Trion was one of the worst game companies, they should never have had Defiance but then it was tied to the TV show for the first season so that hindered a lot of what could have been done. I will miss my character Johanna Darkwater.

I loved the quad bikes too they were badass and so much fun.

Also just casually riding around the map and a hellbug spawns throwing you off the quad and random encounters like that.

Sniper rifles were cool and the bloody Volge, they had a tremendous attack radius and I remember shooting at one from a great distance only to find it came after me from across the map, and then it was time to run.

I did like your game idea combining all those but keeping it Star Trek that would be cool.

I dunno...I kind of had a thing for Cass Ducar. lmao "Thanks for the help, friend!" she says while flipping the bird to the General. Slightly felonious, swore like a trucker, and always had your back.

Trion should never be allowed near video games again. Ever. They had lightning in a bottle, and all they had to do was tap it. Instead, they drove a spike and in it and charged people for vanity shtako that nobody wanted. Then, at the end, they somehow managed to reform the invisible wall so you couldn't go over it at the southern end by that base, but expected us to believe that they had no way to add more to the game? lmao Trion will never get a penny from me. I mean, I still have the hard copy of the game, but pff. It's empty.

With the vehicles, they should have allowed the passengers to swap seats so in the jeeps, for instance, you should have been able to use the passenger position to open fire on enemies as the driver went along. So many missed opportunities.

I never played much of Defiance past the very first Christmas event, what invisible wall are you talking about? Did they expand the game world?

The invisible walls were the borders where you couldn't get past. Like by the crashed ship--on the far side of it was just procedurally generated landscape without features that you normallly couldn't access unless you gamed the game a bit and drove your quad up the hill just right, getting high enough to use your hologram ability that if you activated a second time, you would teleport to the hologram.

Those walls to keep you in playable areas changed. They always talked about expanding the game world, and the map showed an area in the middle that was supposed to expand (some prison area, if I recall right), but they never did. I used to jump the walls just to drive around and look at the landscapes. lol

Oh that middle part. I hung around till they opened that part it was Alcatraz and was explorable but it was just a hub area

No not the Alcatraz hub. The bigger grayed out section that was at a higher elevation on the southern island.

Calling down satellites was fun too. Miss those giant free for alls.

Worst game for invisible walls was Fallout 3. I loved that game, but they didn't even try to camouflage the game world limits with walls or water or dead forests or mountains or radiated areas. Just a general "you can't go that way" or some such words.

I remember that. Then I discovered Nexusmods and that was the end of that shtako. Quick ini file edit and I'm on my way. lmao The worst part of Fallout 3 was having to go all the way around the main city to go through tunnels to get in. No other way in. So annoying.

Then Fallout 4 came along with their settlement building and I did this:

Yes, those are real flames cooking the brahmin burgers. Yes, every single room in the big building was dripping with clutter and details.

Got so bad that the GPU couldn't handle all the static objects anymore. lmao Fallout 4 was pretty close to the ideal game. If they'd just fix their damned broken precombines and previs that makes altering outdoor spaces cause memory leaks in the save file...

Sorry, didn't mean to photobomb the thread. Putting them in spoilers (I hope since I can't edit yet...).
