What We Left Behind - Documentary Update Confirms *Some* HD Remastering

I actually teared up watching this; it really brought into full focus not only how good DS9 is, but how much those involved creating it really loved it. Wishful thinking, but, I'm REALLY hoping this doc is the beginning of the show finally gets its due and perhaps help to ensure the series could get a full HD remaster.

A tiny peek at one of the deleted scenes...

Avery Brooks fully nailing Marc Alaimo in the face. Ouch!

Spent 4 or 5 hours working my way through the disc last night. Loved it. Sat with a smile on my face for most of the 2 hour doc, it was so great to see all of these old friends again.

After it finished, I was very grateful that this exists - DS9 deserved something like this, but, equally it leaves me saddened that a full remaster of the series remains in limbo. The HD-remastered scenes in the doc are gorgeous.

So I finally got my disk and I fell in love all over again. The HD scenes were amazing this time I saw it, being as it wasn't on my crappy laptop. ;) The battle in Sacrifice of Angels really took my breath away.

I'm about halfway through the special features but I need to do something else. I can't wait for my Trekkie friend to see this.

Only managed to watch half of it so far, but damn - what a way to start! Brilliant remastered space battle before Andy Robinson interjects.

This was a fantastic project. Hats off to everyone involved. Finally getting to see the series in HD is a thing to behold. It was a bit jarring to see the switch between HD and SD where FX shots were involved. I first noticed it when we saw SIsko eject from The Saratoga. I thought "Huh? ... Ohhhhh, of course". Same with The Great Link and shots with phaser fire. Great they were able to redo the AR-558 scene.

Can't wait to watch the rest later today.

I'm so happy that this project got the level of support that it did, and was able to funnel that support into creating such a great product (both film and everything associated with it).

I feel like where I live there aren't a lot of DS9 fans around, so yeah, this did help with some feelings of isolation, heh.

Still trying to get hold of a copy as I live in the uk, can anyone confirm if it is a region free disc and will play in the uk (region B)
The Backers Only release is the only unlocked release so far. The Shout Factory editions are both locked to A.

I have the backer edition but am curious about the Shout exclusive material. Not curious enough to buy a second disc but might consider a digital copy. Can anyone whose seen them offer any comment as to whether it’s worthwhile?

I’m also curious if anyone has bought a digital copy and can confirm if the Shout stuff is included. It looks like iTunes ($14.99) includes It. Vudu ($9.99), Google Play ($9.99) and Amazon ($14.99) seem like they don’t.

I bought it on iTunes........what are you looking for? There's over 2 hours of extra stuff.

I don't have it, but the only extra it has over the Backer is a fifty minute version of the Filmmaker Discussion. (Backer version is fifteen minutes.) My advice would be to watch the 15m one (if you haven't already) and decide if a longer version of that is something you need.

Shame that they address Avery’s ‘no-show’ on the longer version but not the backer edition.

From memory, the Shout version doesn’t have the tech/info track that the backer edition has.

Is there a date when the blue ray becomes available in the Netherlands?
According to their Facebook page they are still working on International release dates, though it is live on most iTunes and Google Play stores in Europe as of yesterday to stream/download.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t 100% sure but believed it was just the 50 minute “extended” version of he 15 minute discussion. Turns out that was right according to...

Thanks! Yes, that’s what I thought but wasn’t sure. You’re advice is sound and that’s what I’ll do. Need would be a strong word, but in for 3,800 gold pressed pennies in for... man, not sure I need to spend any gold pressed pounds.

Here's the iTune Extras Menu..............

Thanks! This is also very handy. Maybe when Apple comes to Roku, Fire, etc. this will make sense for me. This screenshot also helps me back off an impulse buy.
