What was your first R-rated movie?

Either Slaughter House Five or Friends. Both when I was in High School. A substitute teacher brought in Slaughter House Five to show to the class. It was a science class so I've no idea why. He forgot about Valerie Perrines boobies. Friends was the second feature after a showing of Tommy(which was a PG film so I dont I know why it was paired with Friends)

"The Godfather" when I was 5 years old. My aunt and her husband took me. I had no clue what I was getting myself into and I left that theater traumatized.

My mother had to sleep with me for weeks because I was afraid the Mafia was going to come to my house and kill me.

Now I am an old geezer and I still REFUSE to watch The Godfather to this day.

Oh.. that reminds me of when I was about 7 years old in India. I don't know if they had age ratings there back then, but my uncle took us all to see a film called Meri Awaaz Suno, which was all bright and shiny and Bollywood, lots of costume changes, lots of songs...

Until they got to the torture scene, where they broke the protagonist's fingers with a pair of pliers. Except me being seven, I thought they were being cut off. Stayed awake all night with my hands balled into fists that night.

Aliens (1986) I was 12. Watched it on VHS at my parents friends home with their sons my age.

At the cinema I saw
New Jack City (1991) before I was 17 and didn't have to show identification to purchase a ticket with other high school friends.

I'm only 25 and have a list of all the movies I've seen and still wasn't able to figure this out. Whatever it was I know I did not regard it as a landmark event. My best guess is Trading Places.

^Was Friends as bad as I've heard? Nowadays, the only thing it's notable for is its Elton John soundtrack.
I haven't seen it since high school. All I remember was it was the standard story about two teens running away from their famlies and the brief nudity.

Elton John must have been the connection between it and Tommy

Probably JAWS was my first "R" rated movie,..I remember my MOM trying to cover my eyes as "BRUCIE" chopped and dragged Quint of the ORCA.

Pretty intense stuff for a little kid, I remember it well. But Jaws was rated PG.

I remember catching a bus downtown with my sister and seeing a movie about people being barbecued and fed to other people who had no idea what they were eating, only that the flesh tasted really good. I can't remember the title (I was probably around 7 or 8 at the time) but I seem to remember a prolific actor named Henry Jones (I remember seeing him in a bunch of other movies/TV shows) was in it, and there were a lot of naked boobies. I even remember buying a plastic skeleton from a vending machine in the men's room.
The first R movie I remember the title of was Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke; again, my sister took me. I was probably around 14 or 15 at the time, and we also took my little brother along, who is 5 years younger than me. I thought it was the funniest movie I had ever seen.

Probably Apocalypse Now Redux, but honestly, I wouldn't be able to remember.

My mother rented The Running Man for a sleepover I was having for my 13th birthday. I was surprised that she'd picked it up off of the shelf and told it it was rated R. She said that she knew, but that she felt I was old enough to see it.

my first R (and over) rated movie was, I think, Hatari. I know, I'm dating myself.

Saturn 3.

My older sister bought the ticket for me, but she didn't want to see the movie, so she went to see "Tess" while I saw "Saturn 3". We told my mother that we went to see "Tess" together, and when she asked me if I liked it, I said it was fine.

I felt so guilty about lying to my Mom, I went back to the theater by myself a few days later and watched "Tess". I don't know, I might enjoy that movie if I saw it today, but for the 16 year old me who enjoyed movies like "Saturn 3", it was an ordeal, and just punishment for my transgression.

No clue. I remember watching the Child's Play films when I'd have been about 8. I remember watching Platoon and Full Metal Jacket with my dad too, but I don't remember when that was. But it's hard to narrow down R-Rated because some Rs get 15s some get 18s.
