What was "The Burn" and what caused it?

1. Some all powerful entity or entities that simultaneously burned out all the dilithium in pursuit of some unknown war or goal.

2. A side effect of a weapon used during the temporal cold war.

3. It’s the Discovery’s fault somehow. Why was the ship abandoned for 1,000 years.

The 23rd century Federation was able to build Transwarp Corridors with just the scans/tech they grabbed from the Narada.

I can’t find any reference to that on the transwarp conduit article on Memory Alpha, but if we’re going to go by Kelvinverse you should be mad humans haven’t figured out how to cure death.

The Trek universe isn’t fully consistent, using one off episodes to negate a plot development decades later is a little silly, as long as it’s not a consistent world element. Every time in the show anyone used a trans warp corridor there were all kind of temporal fluctuations and other dangers to deal with.

You’re making so many assumptions. 1. Technological development increased exponentially forever with no ceiling. 2. Just because a technology exists it’s easily accessible to everyone with no resource scarcity problems.

Your argument is basically the same as saying because nuclear fusion exists, we could easily get along without gasoline.

For the same reason why Qo'noS was 80 hours away from Earth even with the warp drive technology of 2151. Because they wanted to get Klaang kidnapped as quickly as possible and have the NX-01 be close enough to Klingon space to provide added tension.

So is that why it took five minutes to get to Vulcan

Technically, we don't know how long the Enterprise took to get to Vulcan because Kirk was unconscious.
Still, its not impossible that scanning the Narada would have given Starfleet far better knowledge into building much faster propulsion.
Starfleet sensors were quite detailed and there was nothing to suggest that they cannot scan the interior of the Narada... especially with Kirk's father ramming his ship (which likely brought down the shields and/or incurred moderate to heavy damage - enough for the shuttle survivors to scan the ship in detail and then get away).

Perhaps it's the process of "Recrystallization" that is to blame.
Maybe after a time the crystals develop minute cracks that are only detectable by examining each crystal individually at the microscopic level.

Doesn't make much sense, since it all seemed to go at the same time.

I assume all time travel tech blueprints were destroyed too. Because otherwise Burnham could turn her communicator into a temporal walkie talkie like Archer did in the Enterprise episode Shockwave.

She only needs to hammer some copper XD

And find a 22nd century Starfleet hand scanner.
Book: So, you want to undo the Burn? You got here with a time travel device right? Bring it out and we'll get to work.

Burnham: I destroyed it. It was too dangerous to fall into the hands of the evil AI I was fighting.

Book: And I thought Captain Janeway was crazy for destroying the Caretaker's Array in history class.

Burnham: Who?

Book: Travis Mayweather. The greatest hero the Galaxy ever knew.

Book: Where you come from...did they have Dubstep?

Michael: I've heard of it, but no, I don't think it survived past the 21st century.

Book: I think I want to go back to your time now!
