What TOS "things" would you like to see on this show?

BillJ, definitely make sure you never watch Better Call Saul. You'd hate it. Especially if you ever saw Breaking Bad.
Nothing's coming to mind immediately. But I would like DSC to fill in some gaps. Who's President of the Federation? Not that they'd still be President in TOS... Just something that randomly popped into my head.
Maybe a couple of planets we've seen that we knew the Enterprise wasn't discovering. Like Argelius?

IIRC we do see Spacedock under construction during one of the later DSC episodes.

I'm pretty sure that's a TOS-style engine room, they even have the TOS pipe cathedral behind the grate at the back!
Which type? I'm pretty sure a few designs have had that name - one from ENT, one from TOS and a different one from TOS-R
While they may kitbash parts of a "Battle of the Binary Stars" ship into the rough Kelvin shape, they won't ever feature the exact ship design. They cant use stuff from the movies.
There's one in the background of "Context is For Kings", in the mess hall.
Franz Joseph Schnaubelt's daughter Karen Dick kicked off on Facebook over DSC's use of a UFP logo that was similar to her father's one without financial compensation (tie-in rights were very different in 1975 to what they are today, FJ's estate still owns all his original designs from the old Tech Manual). By the end of the season, the logo had changed, losing the FJ-like faces.

Kurtzman has already said in an interview that they can use anything they want.
I would imagine they will probably alter anything they do use, but probably not by much.
They're using the Delta Patterned Clothing and we've seen a Ceti-eel like creature.
And I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they mention Sybok.
I'm sure there's probably other stuff in Season 1 that other folks noticed that I missed.

The "25% rule" is not a clear rule, and it's only on place for the merchandise - new, different (25%) design = new merchandise rights to sell.
Nothing stops them from inserting old things (like they indeed did with the spacedock). They just can't sell toys of that under their new DIS merchandise licenses though, only under the still applicable, old rights they already sold.
They should do it anyway - fill the background up with more familiar stuff. The current DIScoverse looks like a completely different universe, not just a different era (and by NO means like the "same" era as TOS). Just... keep that stuff in the background.
