Well to continue this loving thread of apathetic TV viewing:
I found my housemate had a few seasons of The Big Bang Theory lying around and so I plugged a DVD in out of boredom. The first episode was fairly underwhelming, but there was something endearing about the characters so I carried on.
Aaaaand I'm now half way through the 2nd season and yet I can not fully discern why I'm still watching it. On average it raises a few smirks an episode and little more. In fact it took up until the Christmas episode where Sheldon received a bit of Leonard Nimoy's DNA as a present to truly illicit a guffaw.
And yet, I have almost mindlessly watched the preceeding 30 episodes back to back and chuck the show on as soon as I get in the door. I find it a mildly cute show, not especially funny, but with (for once) an entire group of wholly likeable characters (even Sheldon!) and normally I wouldn't give this kind of formulaic Chuck Lorre sitcom a second glance... yet... it sucks me in with its bright colour palate, strange mixture of character voices and wistful goofiness.
I'm not sure I enjoy it, but man, I am devouring those DVD's!
Hugo - wondering when the Bazzinga! hits...
