What TFA Merchandise Have You Gotten?

I picked up a copy of the TFA Visual Dictionary at work yesterday. I had gotten it because Wookiepdia hadn't been updated with any of it's info last time I checked, but of course I checked after I got home and it was there now. It's still a fun read, and it is worth it for the much more visually interesting presentation than what you get on the wikis.

I found the new Walmart-exclusive 3.75" Black Series figures of Rey and Poe Dameron the other day, and though they come in a new wave assortment with Finn and he was gone by the time I got to the store I did manage to score the last Rey and the last Poe in the entire aisle. They're a little on the pricey side for 3.75" action figures (more than $13 each after sales tax) but they look great and are at present the best and most impressive 3.75-inch scale figures of both characters.

Yeah, after I ordered and received the Black Series 3.75" Kylo Ren and Rey figures for about $25 each, I finally went to a Wal-Mart, and they had a few of them on the shelf at the normal price. I guess that's what I get for never shopping at Wal-Mart.

I'm now waiting to see if they ever release a 3.75" Kylo Ren with removable mask. Finn in stormtrooper armor with removable helmet would be nice, too.

The 3.75" Finn in Stormtrooper Armor with a removable helmet that has the bloody handprint is coming in one of the next waves of the TFA line but as far as I know there's not a Kylo Ren with a removable helmet that's ready to go and reveal to the public. There is the new Disney Elite figure of the character that you can buy from Disney Stores and that has a removable helmet feature.

My guess is we'll get a removable helmet Kylo Ren with an Adam Driver head sculpt underneath, but it'll be sometime later this year.

I'll be on the lookout for those.

I got the Chewbacca voice-changer mask for Christmas as a lark gift from my Mom. The kids and I love it - my wife less so.

So far I just have a 6" Stormtrooper. I plan on getting Kylo Ren and Rey in that scale too but Rey is almost impossible to find at a decent price. There was an Buy It Now eBay listing for a MIB Rey for only 28 with free shipping, but I hesitated. It's been sold now, and I really regret not going for it.

ETA: Just snagged a Buy It Now Rey on eBay for only 28.10 including shipping. :techman:

You gotta love the action figure market, where 8 dollars over regular price can be considered a great deal.

I love how many points of articulation the 3.75" black series figures have. But I am having trouble getting some of them to stand up on their own. So I just ordered some action figure stands from Entertainment Earth.

In other news, the 3.75" "Resistance Outfit" Rey (with lightsaber) is supposed to be released in stores in February, but it is going for about $55 on ebay for pre-order. The other day I saw a listing for $199.99 (), but that one seems to be gone now. I don't think the figure looks that great, actually. The clothes aren't the right color.

^ True, that.

Though I have been finding good deals on eBay on the "Power of the Force" line from the '90s.

I'm really hoping we got more TFA Funko Pops. I would love to get TFA Han, Leia, and Maz.

I was struck yesterday how much my 5PoA First Order Trooper was not very different at all structurally and play-wise than a 35+ year old Stormtrooper at 1/6th the price. And not struck in a good way.

Actually I chose a bad comparison - the vintage stormtroopers didn't have moving heads. So there's that.

I imagine that was more due to design than cost, though.

I'm kind of thinking about getting the TFA Millenium Falcon for display with my action figures. Fred Meyer/Kroger's has it on sale for $75 right now.

The scale is a little small... but the famous "BMF" falcon from 2008 or whenever is going for at least $300 now, and at 2 1/2 feet, I wouldn't have anywhere to put that one. And even the BMF isn't full scale. I think that a true 1/18 scale Falcon would be close to five feet long!

Walgreens across the country are starting to receive their exclusive 6" Black Series Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) figure. I'm going to try to get my copy of him later today.

The 6" figures are pretty impressive. I've decided to stay with 3.75" figures, though, so I can display them together in various scenes.

Hmm... I wonder how big an in-scale Millenium Falcon would be for the 6" guys?

Let's just put it this way: it'd be so huge and so prohibitively expensive that Hasbro will probably never make a 6"-scale Millennium Falcon. They barely released a 3.75-inch one for the new movie, and it's an undersized, Nerf dart-firing playset. ;)

I was doing some reading on the Falcon, and the primary shooting model from the original trilogy was actually 1/18 scale, which is the perfect size for the 3.75" action figures. It's about five feet long. A couple guys out there in the interwebs are building their own custom Falcons at that scale, to use with the action figures.

The only 1/18 "true-to-scale" licensed Millenium Falcon on the market is made by the French company Attakus. It's a cutaway of less than half of the ship, and it costs $2,500, or even more, if you get it with a piece of the Death Star hangar bay. The whole setup weighs about 300 pounds because it's constructed from metal and resin.

I estimate that a full-size Millenium Falcon in scale with the 6" figures would be about eight feet long. :mallory:
