What Systems do you play, and has this changed?

Well, now my gaming has definitely changed-my 360 gave me a red flash in quadrant 4 and an error 74(hardware problem) last night. Time to DS, I guess.

at the moment i play with me playstation 2 stil a few good games out there. i've just started playing a few games on my pc. the pc's not the best for games but have to see about gettin g any more .though soon i hope to get either a ps3 or an xbox 360 not sure which one to go for yet not too worried about movie playback yet so blueray v hd isnt really an issue, may need to dig up so info on which consul is the better value for money

I used to be a pc gamer. Now, I'm a 360 gamer and I haven't touched a pc game in six months. Three years ago, I would have been ashamed of that, as I considered pc gaming to be more "pure" and controllable. Don't get me wrong, I want to play pc games in the future, but man, I love my 360.

I suspect we have a lot of ex-pc gamers here. That said, who knows?

What systems do you play now, and has this changed?

Don't feel bad.
I was an avid PC gamer since the days of the C-64
October 2006 I bought my 360 and haven't touched a PC game since.

I am now up to over 70 XBox 360 games and don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
This year alone I still have my eye on at least 10-12 more titles.

Have fun with your 360 :techman:

For me I primarily play games on the 360 these days, the Wii is secondary, and every once in a while I get the urge to play TIE Fighter or Civ 4 on the PC. At this stage 90+% of my gaming is done on console, and I haven't bought a new PC game since Civ 4- Beyond the Sword expansion came out. Don't forsee buying any either in the near future, only console games.

Missed the bit about history...

Started with a neighbour's Pong machine
Atari 2600
Friend's Colecovision at the time of the 2600
C-64
Friend's Amiga
286-16
486-32
166 MHz
1.8 Ghz
X-box
Core 2 Duo
X-box 360
Wii

So PC games dominated my time until the X-Box (Knights of the Old Republic is what got me to buy) and from there it was a steady slide due to graphics cards/drivers/settings on my 1.8 and even with the more powerful computer that could play some of the games that were marginal, I just have a box of them in a closet at this point.

Let's see...used to have NES...and inTelevision:lol:, have an old Atari system in the garage....

Now we have: GameBoy
Gameboy Advance
PS2 which we still play
xBox 360 (which we have to get fixed since we caught the Ring of Death the other day....but once we get it back we will play it)
Wii which we play often

And we do have, and have had, PC games that are played, and were played.

My first console:
odyssey2wwwsw9.jpg

My first computer was a C=64...
Console wise i went:
Odyssey, Snes, PS1, N64, Ps2, Gamecube, PS3, Wii...
PS3 is European launch model with backwards compatibility and i do play PS2 games on it...

Computer wise i went:
C=64, Amiga 500+, Amiga 1200, PC, PC, PC...

Handhelds:
Original brick gameboy, GBA, PSP, NDS...

In order:
TI-99/4A Computer
2600
Amiga
7800
NES
Gameboy
Genesis
SNES
SegaCD
Saturn
PS1
Dreamcast
XBox
360
And my wife has a little pink DS Lite I play the occasional game on.

I usually only play 1 or 2 consoles at a time, then sell them or trade them for other ones. I work 50-60 hours a week and when I get home I don't like to move much, playing games is a good way to kill 1-2 hours a day before I go to bed or whatever. I don't buy many game, I usually just rent them and beat them. The exception would be a good racing game or fighter that has a lot of replay value like Forza 2 or VF5.

And since the 80s I've always had an x86 computer of varying capabilities. I've played a lot of PC games but it's usually a few years after they come out when I can get a cheap copy and my computer is actually powerful enough to play them.

My favorite genres are FPS, action, RPG and fighting games, though I'll play anything that looks like it might be fun.

Well, let's see: Atari 2600 and NES in my youth, some N64 and PS1/2 belonging to friends from time to time over the years, and a Gamecube and Xbox of my own more recently. Still play the Xbox a lot; the Gamecube, not so much (though I do keep telling myself I'm gonna have to go on a Rogue Squadron 2/3 jag one of these days soon).

Also played a fair number of PC games over the years, though not much any more (mainly the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series--see a pattern developing? as well as the Starfleet Command series).

If I weren't so hopelessly mired in poverty, I'd probably get a 360. But that seems unlikely; the Gamecube was picked up from a former roommate who owed me a lot of back rent/utilities, and the Xbox was the one mad splurge I made out of a modest inheritance from my late great-aunt (the rest helped pay bills). Way too many things demanding my money for me to think about popping for a new game console.

I've been getting that constantly for 2 years and my 360 has since gone on to conquer Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4... I'm not really sure what the problem is, but after restarting my 360 it runs fine. The sky isn't falling just yet.

Vic20, atari 2600, nes, sms, snes, genesis, saturn, playstation, dreamcast, ps2 and ps3.
PC since 93.

I've always been a pc gamer for the most part but I still own all three consoles that I bought over the years.

Sega Genesis
Nintendo 64
XBOX

I rarely play these systems anymore except for the 64. Mario Kart still kicks ass. The XBOX is essentially my DVD player now.

I'm currently playing four pc games at the moment.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (game of the year edition)
Freelancer
The Babylon Project (if anybody could tell me where to download other campaigns besides Raider wars and the Minbari war demo, I would appreciate it.)
World of Warcraft (damn this game is too addicting.)

Started out on a Sega Megadrive (Genesis) and SNES, but what little gaming I do these days is entirely PC-based.

GM

Started out with the original Nintendo, and the only thing I've had since then is a Playstation 2.

The few games I've played recently have been on the PC

Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Nintendo 64
Sega Saturn
Playstation
Sega Dreamcast
Xbox
Playstation 2
Nintendo Gamecube
Xbox 360
Playstation 3
Gonna get the Nintendo Wii

I'm playing the Xbox 360 and PS3 about the same. Right now, I'm playing the PC more (World of Warcraft) than the others.

Over the course of my life, I've played and/or owned the following systems:
NES
Gameboy
Sega Genesis
PS1
N64
SNES
X-Box
PS2

Currently, though, I only play the PS2, mainly because it's the system with the widest selection of games in the two genres I play the most (platformer and RPG).

The first system that I owned was the Nintendo with my brother as a Christmas present from Santa. We wore it out until it did not play anymore but I had a friend give me a perfect one a few years ago that I still play at times. My brother and I then got a Super Nintendo for Christmas when it came out. For some reason we did not get as many games for it but I still have it and love to find good games for it to play. We then had a Sega Genesis with the 32X but it really did not catch on at the house. When I went to college, I bought a Playstation and had a blast in the dorm with it. After college, I finally bought a Nintendo64 but rarely played it since I did not have other people to play with it on. When I started working residential, I did not have the time to play games due to the excessive amount of time that I was at work. I finally bought a Playstation 2 a couple of years ago a when I quit residential and sold my Playstation but kept the games. I bought a used Game Boy Color and some games to have in the car but upgraded to a Nintendo DS and absolutely love it. I play it a lot. I also bought a Nintendo Wii and my wife and I play it at times. She is not a gamer but loves WiiSports and Mario Kart Wii.
