What Systems do you play, and has this changed?

I used to be a pc gamer. Now, I'm a 360 gamer and I haven't touched a pc game in six months. Three years ago, I would have been ashamed of that, as I considered pc gaming to be more "pure" and controllable. Don't get me wrong, I want to play pc games in the future, but man, I love my 360.

I suspect we have a lot of ex-pc gamers here. That said, who knows?

What systems do you play now, and has this changed?

My gaming history goes like this:

Atari 2600
Nintendo 64
Xbox
Wii

I no longer have a physical Atari 2600 or Nintendo 64 but I run emulators on my Xbox for both of them which are as good as the real thing. I sold my Wii. It's lots of fun but I never found time to play it any more.

A friend just got a 360 and says it's heaps of fun, but even though I'm tempted, I think it'd end up sitting unused. I barely use my Xbox but I'm keeping it because it's basically not worth much any more either.

I have also dabbled in PC games but again, not much lately.

I've bought every Nintendo console except the Super NES.

For Sega, I had the Genesis, 32X (what a crock) and Dreamcast.

I've had every PlayStation and Xbox.

Currently: PC, Wii, PS3.

PC/Nintendo has been my gaming platform combination of choice since the NES days, PS3 is the first Sony console I've purchased.

I have had:
Sinclair Spectrum +2
Nintendo NES
Commodore Amiga A500+
Various PCs
Playstation 2
Gameboy Advance
Xbox
Nintendo DS
Sony Playstation Portable
Xbox 360
Playstation 3

I find myself using the PC, PS3 and DS more than anything. In theory, the PSP should be better for the type of games I like to play but the load time are atrocious which makes it useless as a portable.

If a game was being released for both the 360 and the PS3 on the same day I would definitely choose the PS3 version.

There are some games which, despite their availability on consoles, I will never play on anything else but a PC - Football Manager, Command and Conquer, most FPS games especially Unreal Tournament and Half-Life, Civ etc.

I was a PC gamer from age 15 to 20. The majority of the time was spent on Quake and UT multiplayer modes like 1on1, TDM and CTF. Averaged about 6 hours a week.

Not much of gamer since then. Maybe 30 minutes a week or so. I mean I play the occasional Rockband plus a few other games. I also have a PS3 but since I don't game much now days it's mostly sitting there.

I think my interest in playing games drastically decreased as I turned 21 for some odd reasons or other. Right now I get bored if I play any game for more than 30 minutes.

PC. It's always been PC, without fail, going back to those golden days of yore where I was playing Civilization 2 and Doom. Situation more or less analogous to Daedalus12; though I do have prolonged periods where I play a particular game, followed by months of playing nothing.

I had a Sega Mega Drive, Commodore 16 and Amiga 500+ when I was little but these were phased out when I got a Playstation 1 and I loved sony for a long time afterwards. I did enjpy playing on SEGA Saturn and N64 at my mates house but I loved the PS1.

However for a while I did enjoy the SEGA Dreamcast but soon went back to Sony with the playstation 2 and I remember the first game I played on it was MAX PAYNE which was truly awesome.

However SONY imo treated the fans with utter contempt and the price tag was one giant RIP-OFF...SONY I want a console not a frickin home entertainment system. So I went to the 360 along with my mates and I love it because the games for it are top notch and X Box Live is wonderful and cheap for 12 months.

At the moment am playing Bully before I buy GTA in June and I feel I will get the next X Box too.

I am and have always been a PC gamer. I'll go through phases where I play more games than others, but I usually get a few hours in a week. However, if I can't afford a new computer, it looks like I will be an ex-PC gamer. :(

I started playing games on old Tandy-era computers back in the late 80's. Stuff like EGA Trek, Yankee Trader, Wolfenstein, etc...

My first console was an NES. Couple years later I moved on to Genesis. Around '97 I got an N64, and then I prettymuch went PC-only from then til now.

Now of course I'm looking back and wishing I'd still played consoles. I prefer PC in many respects - Games can be more easily adjusted and modified, and a greater amount of control can be exerted on certain types. But consoles definitely have their perks, too. In retrospect I wish I would have gotten a Playstation instead of the N64, despite the fact that I loved Mario 64, Starfox 64, and Turok. PS1 and PS2 were so revolutionary in their day, and I missed out on so many classic games. I'm still thinking of picking up an old PS1 and a few must-have games just for nostalgia's sake.

While I'm still a hardcore PC gamer (especially for FPS, RPGs, and space combat games), I'm definitely going to be getting back into the console world, starting with the XBOX. I'd love to get a 360, but I don't yet have the dough. It's on my list, though. I'll wait til the Navy makes me (comparatively) wealthy and the price drops a bit.

Never figured you for a gamer, apostle. What kinds of games do you play?

I still play a PS2. There are tons of good titles still out there, and they're dirt cheap since the PS3 came out. I'm not loaded with cash so I'll wait until I stop finding PS2 titles before I upgrade.

Game Boy & some PC gaming then N64 then 360. I suppose a very small amount on my Mac now - Civilisation, and I'll pick up Football Manager at some point.

Not a huge gamer though - and not particularly serious about it. I enjoy the fun stuff - sports games, and co-op campaigns.

Currently playing COD and GTAIV. Have beaten Bioshock, etc. :p

I started out in the early nineties on the PC with games like Helicopter, and Test Drive III
since then Ive had
NES
Game Gear
Genesis
Playstation
XBOX
PS2

the PS2, XBOX, and PC I still use somewhat regularly
no plans to go 3 or 360 yet . . .

I play all Nintendo consoles and handhelds from the Super NES on. I'll play the new games that I like, and I'll revisit old favorites. PC gaming never really caught on with me. I used it for SW games, board games, and shareware 10 years ago, and I've played on a few internet game sites, but I haven't done much on it lately.

PlayStation 3
PlayStation 2
Nintendo GameCube
Nintendo Entertainment System
Super Nintendo Entertainment System

NES
Game Boy
Playstation
Game Boy Advance
XBOX
Wii

I'm getting an XBOX 360 soon. Well, when I have the money for it.

My gaming history is what you'd call "mixed". I started out on the Atari 2600 then an original "Amstrad" PC, you know those ones with the massive brick of a processor and took analog cassette tape games with a 30 minute loading time  the "600k Computer" era.

Then in the 90's it was the Sega Genesis, Saturn, Game Gear and Dreamcast as well as the Gameboy Original and Colour.

But the past several years I've mainly been a PC gamer with far more PC games than console, and in the last 9 months in particular I've been an avid Sims player.

But I plan on maybe getting a PS2 this year but I don't know if its worth it.

In no particular order I've played
DS
PSP
PS2
NES
Super NES
Nintendo 64
Game Boy Advance
Sega Game Gear
PC (though I haven't touched a PC game in about 7 years)
GameCube

I've sold most of my consoles and now only play my PSP and PS2 but I plan on getting a Wii in a few weeks and an XBOX 360 when I have the money for it.

I currently own an N64 (dont use it), an X-Box (dont use it, doesnt really work anyway), a PS2 (occaisonally use it), a Gamecube (just use it to play Mario Kart every single day :D ), and a Nintendo DS which I just bought and play all the time. Wow, I had no idea I owned that many systems before now!
