What sort of internet speeds are we getting these days?

I usually do a bit better, my connection is good enough to run multiple streaming services at high quality.

Download is quick, upload is slower.

Only 33.33 mb/s on the Dl and 1.95 on upload.

I could get faster with my current (Uk based) provider, but it'll do for me.

^^

Are the two of you still on dial-up? Those are atrocious numbers. I don't know how I'd survive with such things.

No. I'm on DSL/broadband. Some pages load in the literal blink of an eye for me. I'm satisfied with what I have, thank you very much, Trekker4747. I can watch videos online and post on message boards, Facebook, etc., with no problem. Works for me! :D

This is about the fastest speed you'll get around here unless you pay for the super high tier, and it's insanely expensive. For the price, and keeping in mind my past history with ISP speeds, I am beyond happy with this speed.

Holy cow.

What ISP do you go through?

I'm getting 22.50 mbps (download) right now, and it was around 13 mbps (download) earlier on today when it was more cluttered traffic wise, my upload speed is around 4.84 mbps.

Via AT&T Uverse.

I've got 50/5 service from Time Warner. I also presently have 8 devices connected to it, so that may account for the slightly lower result.

My guesses on SPCTRE's result are: South Korea? Google Fiber? The IT office of a university campus, or maybe of General Electric?

At home, 6 down, virtually nothing up. My 3g connection is actually faster.

What makes it worse is I work with a local isp, but we don't cover this area yet.

My connection at work is limited to 100meg because of the hardware in my office being the bottleneck.

It's all geography. I remember in New Jersey, one of the most densely populated states in the US I could get 8 megs. If your more than a couple of miles outside of a urban area nobody cares about you.

As for my current internet we should probably add what we all pay for that speed we're getting. I think I paid like 20 dollars last month. I could get 8 meg for like 30-ish bucks but 4 is fast enough for Netflix HD(kinda shows how much of a joke that is) so why bother.

Mine is awful. I'm on a wi fi network though which does tend to be slow, despite Xfinity's claim of fast internet service. I'm sure if I did this test right underneath the router it would be a whole lot faster.
