I'm interested in knowing which of the Trek shows initially brought people to Star Trek. And, is that still your Trek of choice?

For me, I came to Trek in the 70s through TOS, then I deviated big time into TNG in the 90s. Now I'm discovering Voyager, but I'll always be an Original series fan, by definition

TOS. I started watching this late at night on Channel 13 in Los Angeles in the early 1980's. I'd been a fan for a few years when TNG was announced.

I was born in 1984, and my dad was a Trek fan, so I honestly don't remember a time when I wasn't aware of who the TOS and TNG characters were. I probably got into Trek more due to TOS though, I remember we had some VHS copies of some episodes and the movies I'd watch all the time.

I think TNG/"Unification" was my first episode, but it wasn't until I got a VHS tape of DS9/"The Way of the Warrior" eighteen years ago that I was hooked.

It was TOS for me, although it was while it was in syndication during the late '70s (it ran on the weekends on a local station in my hometown). As far as it still being my Trek of choice, I'm not so sure since it was actually the TOS movies that made me more than just a casual fan.

I watched the occasional TOS rerun during the late 70s and early 80s but became a fully-fledged Trekkie in my late teens when TNG first aired. No one else in my family when I was growing up watched Trek, but now my husband and I often watch it together. Our daughter, now 17, was drawn into Trek by Voyager reruns five or six years ago, but neither of her younger brothers have been assimilated yet.

None of the above, it was the animated series in its original run. After that I got into TOS in local reruns, and that remains my Trek of choice.

TOS in re-runs during the 80's. Had to wait until the 90's until TNG started to air on this side of the pond.

Trek TOS in its original network run, 1966-'69. For me, that and the first six movies will always be the "real" Star Trek.

(Well, five out of six. I just pretend ST5:TFF happened in some alternate reality.)

TOS in the mid-80s primarily through having seen the movies first (which should have been a separate option).

It was during NBC's original airing; though it was middle of the first season before I got to see it - I was an Army dependent in Germany until then.

ME

TOS - reruns in 1977/78. After school we could watch an episode on WGN, and then immediately after, our local station played an episode. I suspect I saw most of TOS by the time TMP hit the theaters.

TOS and TAS reruns in the late 70s...say 1976-77. Could barely see them sometimes before cable. I wasn't really hooked though till around 1983-84. It was just another scifi show and I knew I liked scifi shows.

TOS remained king till around 1990 when STNG finally overtook it as my favorite Trek show a few years into the run, and it has never relinquished the crown.

My fav Trek shows:

1) STNG
2)TOS
3) DS9
4. ENT
5. VOY
6. TAS

I became a Trek Fan with Voyager and then got into a bit of TOS and TNG after that. Just became a huge DS9 late last year.

TNG for me. It aired reruns at 6 on weekdays when I was 10 and I got into it through those between seasons 6 and 7.

TNG got me hooked, and the Enterprise-D crew is still my favorite Trek cast, but my favorite show overall is DS9.

Started watching reruns of TOS in the womb. TNG came on the scene not too long afterward, so I'll have to go with TNG.

I found Trek while hospitalized for three weeks, watching TOS reruns back in 91 or '92. At some point someone put TNG on when I insisted it was time for Star Trek, and I was incensed that some bald guy was pretending to be Captain Kirk, and that someone on the bridge was wearing a gold thing to be cool. Eventually it grew on me, but only when I started watching TNG episodes on VHS after someone told me it was set in TOS's "future". After that I saw the shows in the order they aired, always on reruns or VHS/DVD sets because I have never had regular TV service.
