What Should Be Done for Star Trek's 50th

Hmmm ...
That's debatable, T'Girl! Debatable, at best.

When it comes to STAR TREK, there's only 1 (one) game in town - and that's the new movies. There are no other versions being shot concurrently, by Paramount or CBS - it's just the one. Although, it is interesting to hear talk now that the movies will reflect more of what TOS was like. I suspect that this sudden concern for Trek of old has to do with the fact that General Audiences are fickle.

It's inevitable that the sequels money-generating potential is going to trail off. And if they are continuing to hear the TREKKIES complain that they, the General Audiences, aren't getting the FULL Star Trek Experience, their incentive to stick around will only diminish all the more. But even doing that, the fact remains, that there are no alternative versions to what's being done now, except through the atrocious Fan Film circles ...

Shatner appears in the next Star Trek film. Just find a way. I suspect the idea has to come from him.

Ideally I'd like Scott Bakula and/or Patrick Stewart to be in the cast list, alongside Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto et all too.

Archer's not a problem, since he's in the past of this universe. He's either really old, or deader than JFK or Nixon. But part of historical events you can make relevant to the plot. Like responsible for something negative, such as starting the Romulan War (from the enemy's perspective anyway) as well as something positive, like forming the Federation.

Picard is admittedly more difficult to achieve and definitely requires time-travel. If not a universe cross-over.

I'd like to see Bakula, Shatner, Stewart, Brooks, and Mulgrew all cameo in the 50th anniversary film somehow

I'm actually working on a new version of my original Star Trek Legends idea in which not only do all six captains (including Pine) come together, but all six casts as well. It's a little tricky to pull off but can be done. It's an idea that brings back every regular actor and actually gives them something to do, although some more than others. It's tricky because it does require jumping back and forth between five storylines but they all come together for a huge final act that sees everyone working together to literally save the galaxy.

The odds of it ever actually happening are close to none but it's something I've been working on for a while. It's an epic adventure that hopefully finds a good balance between old school and new school Trek by having the fun and thrills of the new Abrams movies and the high-minded approach of old Trek. I do believe it's possible to have the best of both worlds. I hope to post more details in the future as I bring it all together in the coming days.

My wishlist? Pretty simple.

Giant conventions. Vegas, Cherry Hill (NJ), SF, Chicago, wherever else they have them. Pull out all the stops, I have autograph collections to complete! All the stars, doing nothing but being shuttled from con to con.

The petition to get Titan made as one of the ships in the Star Trek Official Starships Collection soars past 5000 signatures. As do the ones for the Aventine and Spacedock.

Books. Besides the novels we know are coming, Something doors-blow-off-ing. Ooh, I know, a set of something like the "Essential Guides" like was done for Star Wars. Aliens, Planets, Starships, Characters... I would buy that in a heartbeat. Especially if, like those books, they included the Expanded Universe.

Conventions aplenty.
Star Trek XIII.
Maybe a one-hour TV special about the anniversary somewhere.
Lots of 50th anniversary merchandise (not limited to online shops).
Maybe a special announcement from CBS for something in 2017 or 2018?*

*wishful
