Spoilers What other "special episodes" do you want to see on SNW?

I only skimmed the thread and don’t know if it had been mentioned yet.

But a Q episode (I know, I know, they haven’t met him yet and they have a Trelane situation! But they can spare a line to rationalize that), where Q teaches Pike a moral lesson by changing reality where Pike finds himself in place of Anson Mount playing Captain Pike on the TV show Star Trek. And he realizes an opportunity to influence the script writers to change his fate. All the other characters play their genuine self and don’t belief him to be the actual Captain Pike.

Yeah, bring on T'Pol. Would love to see her interact with Spock and Pike. Or anyone of the crew even.
Although I doubt they can convince Jolene Blalock, and I don't want to see a recast T'Pol.

It would have to be Jolene or not at all.

I wonder how the following would go over?
The Enterprise crew attend a performance that dramatizes their adventure. The sets and costume of the performance are all based on the TOS designs. At first I was going to go with it being "school play", maybe on a colony world. But that might be a bridge too far.

If the bridge is modular like the TNG bridge was, with sections that can be removed to accommodate cameras, then removing a hallway might not have required much tearing down at all.

I was reminded today that Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed an episode of CSI. Since his Kelvinverse film is a no-go, maybe he can be convinced to do an episode of SNW instead, especially since it wouldn’t be as big of a time commitment as a film.

A completely impossible request would be if they handed over production to an international crew and had a non-English episode.

Like suddenly you just have a random Kdrama episode with everyone speaking Korean with all the sensibilities of Korean television. lol

I'd be down.

burnt out on mirror, burnt out on borg, burnt out on klingons, you know what that means. No not captain angel teaming up with harry mudd to somehow recruit tholians, Its time for another special not!first-contact ferengi episode!

I've had enough of Angel but I wouldn't half mind bringing back Harry. I'm sure he's well on the way to becoming the whipped husband he was in TOS.

Maybe the corridor is still there, but they moved the turbolift inwards and the only way in is turning the turbolift 45º.

That's...actually a good idea. Into the headcanon it goes. :techman:

They could still focus on a French crew or German crew. Or a Latin American crew speaking Spanish and Portuguese.

I have two more:

1) How about an artsy episode? I'm thinking like a whole episode set in real time, set entirely in one room, like Pike's quarter during a cooking session with the officers. Maybe they're trapped there and have to solve a mystery. Or they're just telling stories.

2) I desperately need to see Anson Mount as "Cpt. Proton" (and La'an as Queen Arachnia). They don't have holodecks, but Cpt Proton is a canon in-universe television show, so it could be "crew trapped in an illusion based on popculture" story.

^I don't recall Paris (or anyone else) describing it as an old TV show....

I have several more ideas to pitch.

Farragut story

Maybe a first responders episode set on the Farragut, when Chapel and M’Benga served with Kirk and lost all of those crewmen in the Farragut incident.

Discovery story

A Kaminar attempts to enters the Federation story, featuring Siobahn Tilly and Siranna. It could be a Spock & Uhura story, but also possibly an Ortegas (a pilot like Siranna) & Una story too. They can breflely reminisce about the loss of the Discovery crew, which can function as an epilogue to the first couls of DIS seasons.

Sitcom episodes

- A Cheers-type episode, told from the perspective of the ship’s bartender and possibly the ship’s musical performers. Basically, a sitcom set on the Enterprise, minus the laugh track.

- An episode based around the crew getting personal care and visit the ships salon, dentist, gym, ship’s holodeck for a sauna, and barber. And just engage in small talk, gossip and entertaining tales for the episode.

Horror & psychological thriller episode (aka Halloween episode)

What about a horror & psychological thriller based around the lateral vector transporters from DIS S2? Even if its obsolete on Federation ships by the time of SNW, they should still be in use on other vessels, since not all species evolve the same. I’m ready to further delve into the various aliment caused by pre-TOS primitive transporters (psychosis, recurring paranoia, phasing between objects/becoming a ghost, reproductive problems, neurological problem, rearranged body parts, beamed into solid objects, just being a general health hazard and possibly used by serial killers (think Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees, though it could add a bit of The Shining too). How does one prevent a transporter ban and trust a technology like this not being misused for nefarious purposes?

Real time concept

A episode that occurs in real time, like 24. But unlike 24, its not about stopping terrorists or political conspiracies. It’s about something else (a first contact, a wedding, preparation for a diplomatic event, a game of hoverball, etc) that happens within the hour.

Short stories

-A series of short stories within an episode that imagines Earth occupied by three different factions: the Klingons (a few years removed from the 2256-57 war), the Romulans (a century removed from the Romulan War), and Khan’s Augments (Admiral Marcus’s plan to retrive the Botany Bay goes horribly wrong), and the crew are in POW camps or internment camps of some sort

-A meaningful 23rd century freighter story. Merchant Marines exists, and I presume the Vulcan National Merchant Fleet is also around, so there should be a story there. Maybe the freighters visit Ardana pre-“The Cloud Minders” and its planetary government and one of its other cities and witness the gap. They are members of the Federation as of TOS. It would be relevant considering that IRL we are in a Second Gilded Age. It could be broken into three parts could tell the story of Ardana and Stratos into stages.
  • Early 23rd century: Vulcan National Merchant Fleet (use NX-Refit & T’Plana models and possibly Orion models)
  • Late 2230s-2240s: Merchant Marines (Use DIS S1 assets of Federation and Klingon ships)
  • 2259-60: Pike or Kirk’s experience on Ardana

- Klingon war stories, telling tales of the war of 2256-57
  • Chapel and M’Benga on the Farragut with Kirk
  • Ortegas on the Palenque
  • Batel on her ship
  • Uhura at the Academy (basically answering how was the war reported at home)

Different perspectives

- A Lower Decks type story (the TNG episode, not the show LD), but its based around crewmembers with disabilities. So, crewmembers confined to in hoverchairs, cybernetic augmented people (i.e.Airiam), cranial implants and ocular implants (i.e. Keyla Detmer; Troy Januzzi). And they share quarters with other crewmembers (ex. Jenna, Kyle, Uhura).

- A story told from the perspective of Captain Lynne Lucero and her crew. Maybe Lynne Lucero is captain of the USS Archimedes (which might have been Admiral Quinn’s ship when Georgiou first met Saru), with Thira Sidhu as chief engineer and the rest of the USS Cabot crew making up her crew? And they are on a mission to Berellium as they investigate an anomaly created by the Tholians and will assist the Enterprise. And the crew of the Enterprise and the crew of the Archimedes have a clash of styles from the captain all the way down to the lowest deck. It can reunite Pike and Una with shipmates from the USS Chatelet, Antares, and Aryabhatta; shipmates of Chapel and M’Benga from the Farragut; shipmates of Ortegas from the Palenque. Maybe even some USS Shenzhou officers and some of Pike’s bridge crew from S2 among them. But its from the perspective of Lynne Lucero and her crew.

Spy thriller

A proper Cold War style spy games story that happens under the noses of the Enterprise crew. When I’m talking about spies, I don’t mean Section 31. I mean Starfleet Intelligence proper. Along with the V’Shar, Klingon Intelligence and Tal Shiar. And they can also introduce the Andorian version which is called the Ahm Tal.

Bedtime story/fairy tale

A story about Sybok’s mother, possibly told as a Vulcan-style fairy tale due to her being a princess.

And finally…

Spring Break story

Baywatch: Risa or Baywatch: Wrigley's Pleasure Planet
