What other alien race could've worked on DS9 for Jadzia Dax?

And I'd think it must have saved them quite a bit of time and money, as well. Jadzia's a recurring character, so the less makeup they have to use, the better. Although even with just the spots, it took over an hour to apply!

That said, it is rather amusing, the explanation that the novelverse came up with to explain the difference: the Klingon Augment virus managed to infect a Trill colony.

I personally don't care about the actors' looks. And the trill design is honestly too bland.

I guess the current Dax as of SNW is either Emony or Audrid. We know Emony had a thing with Dr. McCoy, but that's already happened, and that was in 2245. So Emony could still be the host, or it could be Audrid. But I'm sure it's one of those two.

(IIRC, Torias doesn't become Dax until the mid-to-late 2280's.)

Trill was probably not a member of the Federation at that time. So there'd be no reason for a Trill to be serving on the Enterprise.

I've heard this story, but I think that Terry Farrell had skin sensitivities that required constant attention. Indeed, that's why she wasn't one of the crew to go in Klingon makeup in Apocalypse Rising, despite being a character who would naturally blend in as a Klingon.

Is it me or is being a Dax host not particularly conducive to a long life? Lela apparently was joined in 2160, Ezri in 2375. So that's 9 joinings in 215 years. Given the average time span of 140 (for humans at least in the 24th century), that seems like Dax went through a lot of hosts.
