What other alien race could've worked on DS9 for Jadzia Dax?

Guys, watch that episode on TNG, the Thrill are the only compatible species for the symbiont.

Oh, I meant when they were creating the character, they could've made Dax a different species altogether. Not as in giving the Dax symbiont to another alien lol

Oh...
I get it now.
She'd make a fine Cardassian! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I wanna think "In The Pale Moonlight" where she's playing the role of that Romulan guy.
Yes, and she says something to the effect of, "I prefer the spots to the pointy ears."

(I've often been critical of Farrell's acting, but this was not one of those times.)

i would presume that they'd focus on alien races that had limited prosthetic work. the Odan prosthetics didn't work becaus it obscured too much of her looks. plus presumably they were wanting to limit the budget needs for it, given they already had a lot of makeup work for extras and minor characters, as well as Odo and the main antagonists.

and in the end they redid the look of the Trill because they liked the idea of the character being "older than she looked" and thus able to serve as a mentor to sisko and the other crew. so you'd probably want to find one that is very long lived.
plus they had a preference for one that appeared on TNG, probably to take advantage of existing familiarity. but i suspect they wanted to avoid any of the ones that showed up often. so something like an el-aurian, which otherwise would have fit, was likely rejected because Guinan had too much of a recurring role in TNG.

That makes sense. But tbh despite liking trills, their design is too bland for me

Maybe Dax could have been one of those aliens from "Conspiracy" bent on galactic domination implanted into another Kriosian like Famke Janssen called Jadzia. Or maybe Jadzia Dax could have been a Goa'uld from Stargate with the glowing eyes and altered voice and bent on galactic domination.

The conspiracy aliens are basically evil trills in a way

They did try Jadzia with "The Host" makeup but something about Terry Farrell having an allergic reaction to the makeup, so that's why they changed it.
