What old games would you like to see "reinvented"?

There's also a Back to the Future on the Genesis, but it makes the NES games look as good as Zelda in comparison. I can beat Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Contra, but despite many attempts I've never been able to survive for more than 45 seconds on the first level.

Jones in the Fast Lane!!! This is (sort of, kind of) the game that started the Sims. Sort of like Life the board game, in a way, i guess...

You're talking about C&C's oft-ignored cousin, C&C: Renegade. I didn't think it was anything special, but that's just me. I really liked the multiplayer but for some reason it hasn't run recently, stupid third-party servers...

I think a redo of Jedi Outcast has been seriously required for a long time now. I still think Jeff Bennet was the best damn voice actor the Star Wars franchise (gaming division) has ever seen, and he deserves to step back into the role of Kyle Katarn (my second-favorite SW character ever).

I wasn't a big fan of Renegade, but there is a mod in progress for UT3 for those interested.

There was an old arcade game, I think it was called Xevious where you had this little ship and would fly over the land and zap things that come at you.

I also think a newer version Missile Command would be great too!

I actually did forget about C&C: Renegade, probably because I've never played it.

Yeah, on that note, I wouldn't mind seeing Jedi Knight remade with a modern graphics engine. I think there was a fan project where they were remaking it with the Jedi Outcast engine.

They were also working on a new C and C FPS called "Tiberium" but it got caned about a year ago

I'd love to see an updated or rebooted "Wing Commander" game. I loved them when I was a kid. Also an old PC game called "Legend of Kyrandia" featured an evil jester named Malcom who became power crazed and took over a kingdom leaving the son of the old king who doesn't know his heritage to take things back. There were three of them but the first one was the best one.

I'd love if they'd reinvent the best game ever: X-COM. What a beautiful turn-based humans vs. aliens game. Had so much potential to become a great series, but the third one screwed it up. And the second one wasn't differentiating enough from the first one, really.

I appreciate that! I've actually downloaded both of the successors. They're very good, actually, but just not like the original. Some great parts, some worse parts.

BTW, try it out and see if you like it! Even the newer ones will be close enough that you'll enjoy the concept.

Those have already been remade...only they set them under the sea with a retro Fallout vibe and called it Bio Shock.

Legacy of the Ancients

I think me and this other guy I know are the only two fans of this game.

It's similar to the old Ultima games but with some interesting twists: no experience points, no static monster encounters (they're all random), lots of mini-games

I still play through it every couple of years on the emulators.

I loved Flashback and Fade to Black. The thing I remember most about Flashback was the fluid animation, and the thing is, I've never seen that translated well to 3D, and I'm not even sure if it's been attempted. That's what I felt was missing when the Prince of Persia games went 3D. The animation really felt clunky in comparison to the fluid 2D animation.

Hmm. Perhaps Battletoads for the SNES i believe. It was truly an amazing game, i have only ever reached level 2, or maybe it was 3. The game is really difficult and i'd like to see it reinvented but i don't think it would happen, its already a legendary game and its what, 10 years old atleast?

And probably Syphon Filter, that was truely a great game.

There were some fan-made modifications that allowed Torment to be played on XP and (I think) also Vista/7. They included a widescreen mod too.
