What old games would you like to see "reinvented"?

We need a 3d-accelerated, multi-core-optimised, physics-engine-based, big budget 3rd-person-perspective remake of this all-time classic:

I would love to see a current-generation version of Outcast, with Bruce Willis doing the voice acting for Cutter Slade (Cutter was voiced by Manfred Lehmann back in the day, the German dub voice of Bruce Willis).

Cannon Fodder may be a nice game to see reinvented. A classic Amiga game from 1993.

I thought the controls of that game were rather poor. It would have been better using RTS-like controls, so we could easily drag-select groups, to separate and position them with finesse.

The game has actually been remade by the original developers, but (afaik) it has not yet been released. Maybe they are not happy with it, or cannot find a publisher, lack resources to properly finish it, are perfectionists, or are trying to take it in the wrong direction.

I'll admit that I wasn't very impressed by what I saw of it.

I never played the original but I think a new Grand Theft Auto set in London 1969 could be pretty fantastic if done right.

^ You know if they took the game in a sci-fi time travel direction that might be fun. Imagine knocking out a chariot driver and stealing his chariot. Instead of the radio you keep going past these guys on the corners who are yelling out the news. Ahhh the hilarity.

Has there ever been a Back to the Future game?

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. It was a legend, and ever since I've played CIv3 I've heard nothing but the glories of SMAC. Since Colonization and Pirates! have gotten modern releases, why not?

Agreed. Alpha Centauri was a favourite of mine too. If they should ever remake one Civ-style game, the developers should walk up to the table and lay the SMAC down. :D

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Upgraded graphics and diplomacy would be awesome. Plus new factions.

Honestly, "Command & Conquer". Yes I know there's been new titles in the series, but none I like as good as the original and "Red Alert". Just something very charming about them.

Am I a bad person for thinking an FPS set in either of the two C&C universes (we're ignoring Generals) could be a lot of fun?

You're talking about C&C's oft-ignored cousin, C&C: Renegade. I didn't think it was anything special, but that's just me. I really liked the multiplayer but for some reason it hasn't run recently, stupid third-party servers...

I think a redo of Jedi Outcast has been seriously required for a long time now. I still think Jeff Bennet was the best damn voice actor the Star Wars franchise (gaming division) has ever seen, and he deserves to step back into the role of Kyle Katarn (my second-favorite SW character ever).

I actually did forget about C&C: Renegade, probably because I've never played it.

Yeah, on that note, I wouldn't mind seeing Jedi Knight remade with a modern graphics engine. I think there was a fan project where they were remaking it with the Jedi Outcast engine.

There's one on Steam right now. I first read about it on CNET. Metascore gives it a 76/100.
